Loreto Convent School , New Delhi
About Us: All Loreto Schools in India belong to the Institute of the Blessed Virgin Mary founded in England in the 17th century by an English woman named Mary Ward, and later carried over to Ireland by a young Irish girl, Mary Teresa Ball. It was from Ireland that the first Loreto sisters came to open a school in Calcutta in 1842 and from there many foundations were made all over the country. At present, the Loreto Sisters care for about twenty thousand girls all over India in 17 schools and 2 colleges. Over the years, our educational ministry has kept abreast of contemporary growth and thinking, both academic and social, and has attempted to respond to changing situations. In particular, during the past 2 years, our education Commission has animated the Province to review its educational efforts in the light of current needs in India, and the 1986 Chapter Mandate, which urges us on to a "preferential love of the poor".
