E-Learning in DU Colleges Likely By Next Month

New Delhi, October 8

Delhi University's ambitious plan of launching the "Virtual Learning Environment" - an online portal to host e-lessons and other learning materials for its students -is likely to be launched within a month. The portal, to be launched by the Institute of Life Long Learning (ILLL), Delhi University, has e-lessons, e-quizzes, virtual labs and e-lectures as well as animations and other visuals. The portal will be of immense help to the undergraduate students who have a very hectic semester system schedule.

"Students will be able to do a lot of self-study and make better use of their time in the classroom as well. It will bring about uniformity in syllabi and teaching modules across the colleges. Students will be able to interact and see what's happening in other colleges. It will also help bridge the gap between North and South Campus colleges and other off-campus colleges in east and west Delhi," said Prof Vasudha Pandey, a key persons involved with the portal.

"We have tried to update the maximum number of courses according to the resources at hand. The portal will improve with time. The quizzes are an important part of the portal, which have been created after months of brainstorming. Virtual labs and lectures will be highly beneficial to the students. The portal doesn't intend to replace the classroom teaching, but enhance it," she added.

"The portal is most likely to be available from next month. We will keep adding more material and pre-recorded lectures as per student feedback," said ILLL director Madan Mohan Chaturvedi.
