Class I Admissions Open At 80 Kendriya Vidyalayas in NCR On February 15

NEW DELHI:
All 1,100 Kendriya Vidyalayas will start their admission process for Class I (entry level) from February 15. The Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan will shortly bring out the admission notification as well as guidelines. Over one lakh students will be admitted in Class I across all KVs, including around 20,000 students in 80 KVs in the national capital region. Delhi alone has 60 Kendriya Vidyalayas. As per Supreme Court guidelines, 25% seats will be reserved for the economically weaker section category. If the number of applications surpasses capacity, a lottery system will be followed in each category.

"There will not be any major changes in admission guidelines from last year. Minor changes can be notified if necessary to bring more clarity within categories. The admission process will be as per RTE Act guidelines with 25% seats reserved for EWS and a neighbourhood policy," commissioner of KVS Avinash Dikshit said. There will be no admission test up to Class VIII. There are five priority categories which include children of transferable and non-transferable central government employees, children of transferable and non-transferable employees of autonomous bodies, public sector undertakings and institute of higher learning of Government of India, children of state government employees and children of state government PSUs.

Dinesh Kumar, additional commissioner (academics), Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, said, "The admission notification will be issued by February 15. The process will end on March 31. Admissions from Class II onwards will depend on vacancy status of each school in that particular class. At entry level, which is Class I, KVs will admit over a lakh students across India this year." The 80 Kendriya Vidyalayas in Delhi and NCR will admit around 20,000 students in Class I. "While parents can visit respective schools for application forms once dates are announced by the schools, the proforma can also be downloaded from the website, filled and submitted at respective schools. For admission into Class II onwards, parents of would-be candidates need to contact the schools individually for vacancy status," said Kumar.
