Seemanta Engineering College, Mayurvihar, Mayurbhanj was the pet project of the Seemanta Mahavidyalaya Samiti. The project was instituted in 1997 to cater to the long cherished demands of technical education of North Odisha and the bordering regions of Jharkhand and West Bengal.The Institute domiciled the confluence of NH – 5 and NH – 6 in the clean, green and serene foothills of Similipal National park as its permanent abode. The site of the Institute in such an exquisite ambience crafted an atmosphere perfectly conducive for the quest of residential Engineering. The team of dedicated, experienced and qualified faculty with a commitment to groom professionals of the 21st century’s corporate cosmos blended with an active corporate focussed placement cell facilitate the Institute’s success story in leaving an imprint among the students and their parents.

The establishment of Seemanta Engineering College during the 90’s in the district of Mayurbhanj in the extreme North end of Odisha bordering the then Bihar and now and West Bengal won accolade from all quarters of cross border intellectual society. The institute was the one and only Technical institution of the entire North and Rural Odisha by then.

Eligibility:

Diploma Engineering :  

Candidates desirous of admission in to the 3 years Diploma Engineering Programme in the branches of Mechanical Engineering & Civil Engineering at Seemanta Engineering College, are to meet the following eligibility criteria:

• Admission to 1st Semester of Engineering Technology : Pass in HSC examination / 10th standard examination conducted / declared equivalent by BSE, Odisha and obtained at least 35% marks in aggregate, securing 30% marks in each subject at the qualifying examination with Math, Science & English.
• Admission to 3rd Semester under Lateral Entry Scheme for eligible candidates (20% supernumerary seats) : Pass in +2 Science Examination from CHSE, Odisha or its equivalent examination with PCM / +2 Vocational (2years course) in any Engineering Trades / 2 years ITI in Engineering Trade with pass in HSC examination / 10th standard examination conducted / declared equivalent by BSE, Odisha & securing 30% marks in each subject.

Apart from that,

• He / She should have possessed a valid rank card of DET -2016.
• He / She should have opted Seemanta Engineering College as his / her choice for admission in to Diploma Engineering during the DET counseling.

Age: Minimum 14 years for all courses except Mining/Drilling and Minimum 16 years for Mining/Drilling as on 01.07.2015. No Upper Age limit.

Reservation: Reservation under different categories will be applicable for Odisha State candidates only as per norms specified by Government of Odisha

B.Tech :

Candidates desirous of admission in to the 4 years Degree Programme in Engineering and Technology in the branches of Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics & Tele Communication Engineering, Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Computer Science Engineering at Seemanta Engineering College, are to meet the following eligibility criteria:

• He / She should have passed +2 Science or XII standard with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the following subjects from Chemistry / Biotechnology / Biology / Electronics / Information Technology/ Statistics / Computer Science. The candidate should have passed in individual subject and must have obtained at least 45% (40% for the candidates belonging to ST/SC category) in the above subjects taken together.

For Direct Admission to third semester degree Course (Lateral Entry) (20% supernumerary seats) :

• He / She should have passed 3 years diploma in Engineering in appropriate branch of Engineering/Technology from State Council of Technical Education and Training (SCTE & VT) or equivalent with a minimum of 45% (40% for the candidates belonging to ST/SC category).
• He / She should have possessed a valid rank card of OJEE 2016.
• He / She should be a native of Odisha / should have completed his / her 3 years diploma in Engineering course in an institute of Odisha.
• He / She should have opted Seemanta Engineering College as his / her choice & mentioned the disciplines of Engineering available for admission in to B.Tech. Programme through Lateral Entry scheme during the time of online choice fill up and at Nodal Centers of OJEE during counseling.

For Admission to 2nd year Degree Courses in Engineering & Technology under Lateral entry scheme for B.Sc./+3 Science Students :

• He / She should have passed Bachelors Degree of Examination of 3 years duration in Science in the relevant field from any University of Odisha or equivalent recognized university as defined by UGC with a minimum of 45% (40% for the candidates belonging to ST/SC category) in aggregate in the qualifying examination and must have passed XII standard with mathematics as a subject.
• He / She should have possessed a valid rank card of OJEE 2016.
• He / She should have opted Seemanta Engineering College as his / her choice & mentioned the disciplines of Engineering available for admission in to B.Tech. Programme during the time of online choice fill up and at Nodal Centers of OJEE during counseling.

MCA :

• He / She should have passed Bachelors Degree of Examination of 3 years duration in any discipline from any University of Odisha or equivalent recognized university as defined by UGC with a minimum of 50% (45% for the candidates belonging to ST/SC category) in the qualifying examination and must have passed XII standard with mathematics as a subject. Business Mathematics at +2 level is not permitted.
• He / She should have possessed a valid rank card of OJEE 2015 / NIMCET-2016.
• He / She should have opted Seemanta Engineering College as his / her choice at for admission in to MCA Programme during the time of online choice fill up and at Nodal Centers of OJEE during counseling.

M.Tech. :

Candidates desirous of admission in to the 2 years Master Degree Programme in Engineering and Technology in the branches of Mechanical Engineering (Production Engineering) & Electrical Engineering (Power System Engineering at Seemanta Engineering College, are to meet the following eligibility criteria :

• He / She should have passed Bachelors Degree of Examination in the relevant field from any University of Odisha or equivalent recognized university as defined by UGC/AICTE with a minimum of 50% (45% for the candidates belonging to ST/SC category) in the qualifying examination.
• He / She should have possessed a valid rank card of PGAT / GATE -2016.
• He / She should have opted Seemanta Engineering College as his / her choice for admission in to M.Tech. Programme during the counseling.

Facilities:

Hostels : The institute accommodates the students in its in-campus hostels. It has separate hostels for boys and girls of both undergraduate and post graduate courses. The hostels have inherited the idyllic milieu being located within the campus. These hostels provide healthy study atmosphere, Common rooms, newspapers, LCD Television, DTH service, spacious and hygienic Dining halls, Telephone, Medical facility, 24hrs Ambulance service, Week end visit to district headquarter, courier service, Photocopy facility etc.

Transport : The institute has maintained a fleet of vehicles for meeting its transportation needs. The fleet composed of a fleet of vehicles comprising 05 buses, 01 SUV, 01 MUV and an Ambulance to meet the transportation needs of its inmates. The Liaison Officer is in-charge the Management of Transportation. Moreover a faculty has been made the transport in-charge to oversee it.

Canteen : The institution promotes a canteen in the campus to refresh the students with delicious, hygienic food at a subsidized price. The canteen is maintained by the institute and remains vigilant over the quality of foods, maintenance of hygienic atmosphere and pricing. The canteen serves the institutional needs round the clock.

Other Facilities : Besides, the institution provides a number of necessary and ultra modern facilities to its students which include round the clock Internet Facility, Dispensary with a medicine specialist, 24 hrs Ambulance service, Yoga Research Centre, Gymnasium with Built-In Ultra Modern Instruments, Music Club, Athletic Club and Cultural Club for the comprehensive development of the personality of its inmates. For strengthening their all round development of personality Co- Curricular activities like NSS, Literary Club are extended to the students.

Placements:

The Placement Cell of SEC has played a pro-active role to train and place the passed out students of the institutes since 1997. It works in close co-ordination with the Continuing Education Programme centre of the institute to instil the desired corporate skills to make them employable. The track record of the Cell has been very persistent until now.
