Rourkela Institute of Technology ( RIT ), the first professional institute of its kind in western Orissa and situated near the confluence of river Sankha and Koel adjoining the industrial city of Rourkela bordering Orissa and Jharkhand enjoys the reputation of providing quality education in both Technical and management courses for more than two decade since its formation in the mid eighties of the departed century. It was established in the year 1984 under the Sponsorship of Rourkela Technical Education Society (RTES) duly registered under society registration act 1860.

As such it has become the favorite destination of aspiring students who are interested to equip themselves with professional qualification and acquire sufficient expertise in order to successfully complete in the job market and ensure a bright career. At the institute, no efforts are spared to take individual and personal care of the students at every step till their goals are realized. The institute has been accredited with ISO 9001:2000 certification for excellence in teaching and facilities.Juxtaposed with the above, the institute has been integrally involved in all-round development of students and staff members. The technical ambience of the institute has been exponentially enhanced by adding latest instruments in the laboratories and workshops.

 Admission Procedure:

Diploma : Students were admitted through Diploma Entrance Test (DET) conducted by DTE & T, Orissa

MCA : Student were admitted through JEE conducted by JEE, Orissa

MBA : Students having rank of JEE,CAT,MAT & XAT were admitted through JEE, Orissa counseling.

Facilities :

Computer & Internet : The institute provides a centralized computing facility to complement the teaching and research function and to enable the students to comprehend different aspects of management information system. Up gradation of the facilities is an on going process.

Library : RIT believes that a good library is an integral part for providing complete education. The books of library cover the entire spectrum of the syllabus and allied subjects. The library at RIT is well equipped and well stocked with test and reference books in order to satisfy the quest for knowledge on the part of the students and provide support to academic research and management programs.

Hostel : Separate hostels for boys and girls are available. Hostels are well equipped with basic and modern useful amenities to cater to the needs of the boarders. There is no substitute to home and its care but we have taken enough care to create a homely environment for the comfortable stay of the students in the hostels. Nutritious foods are essential for physical and mental growth of the students.

Transportation : The institution has its own fleet of buses to cater to the needs of its students and staff members. These buses serve as a link between the campus and the town.

Canteen : Separate canteens for staffs and students. The canteen is managed by the institute coordinated by the welfare committee. The committee fixes the canteen charges which is primarily on cost to cost basis.

Seminars, Workshops & Group Discussions : At RIT seminars, workshops and group discussion are held from time to time in order to provide adequate platform for debate, discussion and analysis of relevant issues pertaining to information technology and management having both national and international perspective. Eminent speakers from government, industry and academic circles are invited from time to time to speak on contemporary issues in order to acquaint the students with the latest trends in the concerned sphere.

Lecture Hall : The air conditioned class rooms are spacious, well ventilated with comfortable sitting arrangement. The lecturer halls are specifically designed for lectures and group discussion.

Training and Placement Cell :

The Training and placement cell at RIT plays on exemplary and important role in providing the required impetus to the students in order to enable them to successfully compete in the job market and insure a bright career, Personality development programs and pre-placement training are organized as required in order to groom the student as per corporate needs. The Training and placement cell has developed linkages with various leading banks, financial institutions software companies and industries both in public and private sector to facilitate and provide assistance to the students in proper placement. It acts as a liaison between prospective employers and student seeking placement in various national and international companies & institutions.
