All professional education is driven ultimately by practical societal needs. Nevertheless, these needs can be connected to deeper concerns that are the normal subjects of pure academic inquiry. Certainly, academic inquiry in the engineering, social sciences and even many of the natural sciences is driven by interests in practical issues as much as by the pursuit of knowledge for its own sake. To embark on a journey of triumph one needs the paraphernalia of knowledge, opportunity and skills to create values. In order to initiate these values Rajeev Institute of Technology an affiliated college of Visvesvaraya Technological University, approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) is a unique initiative of Rajeev Education Trust started in December 1998 under the aegis of Dr. V. Rajeev a medical practitioner and philanthropist of Hassan.

Established in 2008, Rajeev Institute of Technology offers 4 year engineering courses and has a total of 6 Academic Departments, 4 Postgraduate and Interdisciplinary Programm. It is reputed for the quality of its faculty and the outstanding calibre of students graduating from its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The institute has holistic approach towards education and training. We at RIT systematize professional manpower for tomorrow and future. In quest of this commitment, the management and faculty accept the responsibility to ensure ceaseless progress towards this objective. The Rajeev Educational Trust was started by people of noble thoughts, who aimed at bringing about quality education and also to serve members of the society at a large scale. The institution is managed by Dr. Rajeev who is the President of the trust and paediatrician of Rajeev Hospital and Dr. B.N Rathna Rajeev who is the secretary of the trust. Rajeev Hospital started in which helps the students gain therepractical experiences as well as provide quality treatment to the patients.

Facilities:

Library: The institute has a spacious library with a seating capacity for 200 students. The library has 19529 volumes of books with 5824 titles. 69 national and 40 international journals are available in the library. The library has subscribed many E-Journals for the latest knowledge for our students. There is also a separate Digital Library with internet for accessing E-Journals and to download the same. The Institute library also has a Language laboratory which comprises of many software kits and books to enhance their LSRW (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) skills.

Transport: RIT runs fleet of vehicles including several buses to transport students from campus to their locations. The transport facility is also provided to students and the staff of the colleges from different places of Hassan and surrounding area. The buses are also provided to the students for University related works, fests, sports, placements and cultural competitions held in different colleges.

Hostel: In many ways, hostel life defines the life of a student in campus. Life at RIT hostels comes with its own traditions. Some of them are quite unique. Separate hostels are situated in RIT campus for Boys and Girls with spacious accommodation, water facilities, backup power supply, extra care, concern, hospitality and 24/7 security to boarders. The hostel administrative body includes the warden, the assistant warden, the hall manager and the mess manager, who administers the day today issues in consent with the management. Hygiene vegetarian and non-vegetarian food is served in both the hostels.

Hospital: The trust runs 300 bedded hospital which takes care of general health issues of students and faculty. Apart from the resident doctors, it is also managed by specialists including pediatrics, ENT, surgeons, orthopedists etc. It has well-equipped laboratories to conduct all types of medical tests such as Ultra-Sonograms, Scanning, Rays etc., and also has in-patient wards, OT and ambulance facility which works round the clock.

Placement & Training:

The placement and training centre facilitates students in easing the process of placements in the industry. The placement and training centre is more proactive in understanding the industry requirements and capability of the students. Students are encouraged with the comprehensive picture about emerging industry trends. The placement program assists students with placement seminars, conferences, group discussions; interviews, aptitude tests and periodic personal interviews are conducted, transforming student. Mock test and interviews are conducted at the department levels.  In the months preceding the commencement of the placements season, the final year students are exposed to various opportunities to test themselves. Qualitative requirements other than academic pertaining to interview and selection procedure are honed by conducting mock interview, written tests. Self assessment by the students is a part of this exercise. Students take active participation in identifying prospective employers and are encouraged to keep themselves updated on the developments in the changing business environment.
