With a history stretching back over 15 years, providing technical education with in a modern educational environment and strong academic staff, Maratha Mandal Engineering College is strongly identified with engineering education in North Karnataka-India. The mission of MMEC is to advance knowledge and educate students in science, technology, and other areas of scholarship that will best serve the nation and the world in the 21st century. The Institute is committed to generating, disseminating, and preserving knowledge, and to working with others to bring this knowledge to bear on the world’s great challenges. MMEC is dedicated to provide its students with an education that combines rigorous academic study and the excitement of discovery with the support and intellectual stimulation of a diverse campus community. We seek to develop in each learner of the MMEC the ability and passion to work wisely, creatively, and effectively for the betterment of the planet. The College started functioning on the 21st of October 1997. The college has been duly sanctioned by the Government of Karntaka vide GO No. ED 32 UK 97′. Maratha Mandal Engineering College is recognized by the All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi vie letter no. F/77-153/220/(E)/ET/96 dated 4th August 1997. The College is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum.

The Maratha Mandal was established in Belgaum in the year 1931 with a motto to serve the society in the field of education. Since inception Maratha Mandal has rendered services in the Primary & Higher Secondary education. Maratha Mandal, in the leadership of Late Shri. Nathajirao Halgekar who proved himself to be an outstanding organizer, a sophisticated statesman, a great thinker, an eminent educationalist and a great visionary, with his sterling character, honesty, integrity and dedication to work, began a new era in 1977 by deciding to start different professional institutions of higher education like Polytechnic, College of Pharmacy (Diploma & Degree), Arts, Commerce, Science & Home Science, Dental, Engineering College in and around Belgaum. Late Shri Nathajirao Halgekar stressed the pragmatic and practicable. The Institute admitted its first students in 1997, years after the approval of its founding charter. Since then, We are demonstrating to the nation that progress is possible against the great problems of today and tomorrow—energy, climate, water, poverty, mega cities, disease—through science and technology deeply informed by wise policy and pursued headlong with the can-do culture of MMEC. We are striving to set a path toward a new future for Indian Industries, through innovative systems, processes, and materials. We strongly believe that Maratha Mandal Engineering College can inspire the next generation of young people, of every background, to understand that science, math, and engineering can give them the exhilarating power to participate, not passively as spectators and consumers, but as the active explorers, entrepreneurs, and inventors who will design the future.

Facilities:

Boys Hostel: The Hostel is located in the serene lush green campus of the college, situated in the lap of the Sahyadri Mountain Range. It offers an ideal stay for the students to pursue their study in an atmosphere far from the distractions of the urban life.

• Well furnished 46 rooms that can accommodate 138 students, with cleanly maintained bathrooms & toilets.
• Mess system with quality food
•  Each bathroom has a geyser of 35 litre capacity, (with a standby) in addition to Tata Solar of 1,500 litre capacity for the hostel.
• TV Room with dish antenna connection and 29” colour TV
• Wi-Fi facility all over the campus
• Reading room with News Dailies of English, Kannada and Marathi
• Campus Clinic
• Round the Clock availability of water and electricity
• A room with Indoor Games Facility
• Gym Facility is being set up in the new administrative block under construction
• Evening Library facility after the college hours

Girls Hostel: The hostel is located at the Main Campus in the heart of the city. The students staying in this hostel are provided free conveyance to reach the College and return by our college buses.

Library: The library has an excellent collection of books, both technical and general, with state-of-art facilities. The college has also subscribed to a number of prestigious national and international journals.The library provides an excellent ambience for students to study in the quiet and serene surroundings of the college location. A separate reading room that accommodates more than 100 students and a spacious stack room form part of the library. The library has a separate issue section, a reference section, news paper section, periodical section and a digital library. The digital library facilitates access toreputed e-journals from IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, ASME, ASTM Digital Library, and J-GATE. The students can thus access research articles from several thousands of reputed journals using high speed internet facility. The library also has subscribed to McGraw Hill online repository of e-books. A new library building which will be equipped with many more facilities and features,is under construction and will be ready for use in all respects shortly. The library is managed by a well-qualified librarian and experienced supporting staff.

Placement:

Maratha Mandal Engineering College [MMEC] is the affiliated college of the Visvesvaraya Technological University and has established a full-fledged Training and Placement Department with a experience in industry and academic institutions, as its head.  The department is established to see to it that all the students are trained as per the required industry standards [Soft skills, Aptitude and Technical Skills] apart from the academic curriculum to build their career and place in the reputed organization in India & abroad. The department contacts industries and invites the company HR representatives Technical personnel for campus recruitments and guest lecture’s. MMEC provides them the local hospitality and other infrastructural facilities to the industry representatives to effectively and efficiently conduct campus selection programmes. Past two years, the department has been successful in getting a number of industries to visit MMEC for campus recruitment.
