About Us:


The University of Jammu, accredited as 'A' Grade University by National Assessment & Accreditation Council of India came into existence in 1969 vide Kashmir and Jammu Universities Act 1969 following bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir. The University provides instructions in such branches of learning as it deems fit and makes provision for research and the advancement and dissemination of knowledge. The University stands for spiritual and material elements in life thirst for knowledge and virtue under the backdrop of holy peaks of Trikuta Hills.

 

University of Jammu holds examinations, grants degrees, generates knowledge and confers diverse academic distinctions on persons who pursue approved courses of study in the University or in constituent colleges/institutions approved for the purpose also for those who appear as external/private candidates. It also confers honorary degrees or other distinctions on the persons of exceptional caliber. The University also admits, maintains, recognizes, and affiliates colleges and other institutions. It is primarily a research, teaching, affiliating, and examining body involved in promotion of arts, science and other branches of learning. The University is open to all classes and creeds with the sole objective to carry people from darkness to light.

 

It is notified for the information of all concerned that the admission to various academic programmes of the University of Jammu / Campuses / Affiliated Colleges for the Academic Session 2013-14, shall be made as per the following schedule:

  1. Admission to the PG Departments of the University of Jammu / Offsite Campuses / Affiliated Colleges shall be made on the basis of Entrance Test and Academic Merit of Qualifying Examination. The final merit of a candidate out of 100 shall be calculated by giving a weightage of 40 i.e. marks obtained in the Entrance Test and a weightage of 60 to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination – the 60 shall be calculated by giving the weightage of 20% each to the percentage of marks in Part I, II & III separately. For admission to the programmes like M.P.Ed/M.Lib.I.Sc/B.A LL.B (5 year)/B.B.A (HM)/Honours Courses the weightage of 60 to the percentage of marks obtained in the qualifying examination shall be accorded so as to calculate the academic merit of the candidate. For M.Ed 60 shall be calculated by giving the weightage of 80% to marks in theory and 20% to marks obtained in practice of teaching.
  2. There shall be 40 objective type questions carrying one (1) mark each for each subject/programme within the notified syllabus.
  3. Candidates can apply for appearing in the Entrance Test to the maximum of 5 Programmes. The duration for each paper shall be 60 minutes. The examination shall be spread over 6 days
