The Indian Institute of Carpet Technology popularly known as IICT, the only of its kind in Asia, has been set up by Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India to provide much needed support to Textile, Carpet and allied Industries. The Institute is affiliated to U.P. Technical University. Lucknow and is approved by A.I.C.T.E. The institute is also a member of I.S.T.E. and CII and recognized by Textile Institute, Manchester, UK. The main thrust areas of the Institute are A) Human Resource Development B) Design Creation and Development, C) Research & Development and D) Technical Support Services to the Industry.

The Institute started functioning from 2001 and at present is running B. Tech. Course in Carpet & Textile Technology. The 2nd batch of the B.Tech has already passed out during the year 2006 and everybody has been suitably placed in the Industry (both in Carpet & Textile Industry). Besides, B.Tech course, the Institute is running Industry Based Short Term Training Courses in Design, Dyeing and Computer Application & Management. In collaboration with Canesis Network Ltd., New Zealand our Institute offers Distance Learning Programme in Wool/Carpet/Textiles. The Institute has extended its existing B.Tech course providing scope for additional disciplines- Home Textile Technology and Textile Design Technology as a specialization in the final year with intake of 60. The Institute is equipped with latest machines, plants, looms and other infrastructure for running the courses. The Institute is awarded coveted ISO 9001:2000 in the year 2005 by SGS, U.K. The IICT's Laboratory has also been accredited by NABL.

Eligibility:

Date of Birth: only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after Oct. 01 1988 are eligible. However in case of SC, ST & PwD candidates who were born on or after Oct 01, 1983 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in Secondary Education Board / University certificate will only be considered.

Year of Passing Qualifying Examination: only those candidates who have Passed their class 12th Exam. Or any other qualifying examination in 2011, 2012 or 2013 is eligible. Candidates who appeared in class 12th/other qualifying examination 2010, did not pass in 2010, but passed in 2011 are not eligible candidates must have taken five subjects in class 12, in the year 2013 However, the candidate who have taken four subject are also permitted.
