Al-Barkaat Educational Society is dedicated to the memory of renowned Persian & Hindi Sufi poet, Syed Shah Barkatullah of Marehra Sharif in the District of Etah in Uttar Pradesh. The Society came into existence in 1995 after registration with the Registrar of Societies of Uttar Pradesh under the Societies Registration Act 1980. With a clear aim to establish & administer educational institutions, as guaranteed under Article 30 of the Indian Constitution, the Society established Al-Barkaat Institute of Management Studies in 2004. The same year we enrolled our 1st batch of MBA students for the 2004 - 05 academic years. ABIMS aims to establish & administer educational institutions under the rights & duties as provided under Article 30 of the Indian Constitution. The Society derives inspiration from the life and teachings of a galaxy of illustrious Sufis of Khanqah - e - Barkaatiya, Mahrehra Sharif, District Etah, Uttar Pradesh. The family headed by Sajjada Nasheen of Khanqah – e - Barkaatiya, Prof. S.M. Amin includes names which have long association with academics & education & have keen interest in developing quality educational institutions. The Society is indebted to the eminent scholars from Aligarh Muslim University for their invaluable contribution in developing its educational plans.

Vision: To be a quality management institution of international repute, the Institute aims to work earnestly to get wide recognition & establish its academic credentials among business leaders, corporate community & academics through its contribution to knowledge, industry & society. To be devoted to holistic education & continuously evolve & develop its teaching methods to attain higher standards of utility & quality education. To encourage creativity & to develop scientific attitude with spiritual foundation.

Eligibility:

For M.B.A.:

• 3 year degree course in any discipline from a University recognized by UPTU with minimum 50% (45% for SC / ST) marks in aggregate & those who are in final year of their Degree courses.
• The second preference is given to graduates with minimum 50% (45% for SC / ST) marks & relevant scores of CAT / MAT / CMAT (Common Management Admission Test) in the same order.

Admission Procedure:

For M.B.A.: Since the Institute has been granted Minority Status by the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions, Government of India & New Delhi from the Academic Session 2011 - 12.

The admission procedure in Minority Institutions will be as under:-

• 50% of the seats will be filled by the Uttar Pradesh Technical University, Lucknow through counselling based on the result of Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (UPSEE)
• 50% seats will be filled through Entrance test conducted by the Institute, from minority community (& also from non - minority community in case seats remain vacant from minority community) from the State as well as from other States subject to the conditions laid down by the Govt. of U.P. / University.
• Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), Lucknow conducts U.P. State Entrance Examination (UPSEE) for candidates domiciled / doing Degree courses from Colleges & Universities in U.P. & also doing Degree courses from Colleges & Universities of other States.

Facilities: 

Library: The library aims at providing timely, reliable & comprehensive information on the contemporary & topical sphere pertaining to multifarious aspects of management. The library of Al-Barkaat Institute of Management Studies is the 1st fully automated digital library in Aligarh, using barcode technology to issue & return books with the help of 'Alice for Windows' library software. Library provides membership to all students & staff members of ABIMS. The library also provides book bank facility for the students in tandem with Inter - library loan facility to its users.

Hostel: There are 2 separate hostels for boys. For junior classes dormitories & triple seated room & for senior students double / triple seated rooms are provided. There is a separate hostel for girls with dormitories. The hostels provide eateries & other facilities like reading room, common room, medical treatment, hair dressing, laundry etc without any extra charge. These hostels are being looked after by Resident Wardens & Attendants.
