About Us:

Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya is an all-girls' residential school - located in Gwalior- a historical city of Madhya Pradesh. About 300 Km south of Delhi, it is well connected with all major cities of the country. The school was founded by Late Rajmata of Gwalior Srimant Vijaya Raje Scindia in 1956 with a view to educating the girl child in the context of newly independent India. It embodies her dream of providing progressive modern education and equipping young girls to be good citizens. Inaugurated by the then President of India, H E Dr Rajendra Prasad, the school took off on its mission to stay grounded to roots of tradition and to take wing in the exhilarating air of freedom. The entry level class at SKV is standard V. In today's competitive world, the need of the hour is to reduce the stress level of the students and at the same time increase their creativity. The school tries to develop in our students the ability to 'create' as against 'copy' by providing an experiential learning curriculum in the formative years. It not only enhances their learning potentials but also brings them to the center stage of learning. It facilitates the students taking charge of their own learning as well as making the content relevant to them.

The school is affiliated to Central Board of Secondary Education New Delhi. The medium of instruction is English. The subjects taught at +2 level include English, Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Geography, Sociology, Political Science, Painting, Music -Vocal as well as Instrumental, Dance- Kathak and Manipuri style, Psychology, Physical Education, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Biology, Bio-Tech, Home Science, C++, Web Page Media, Business Studies, Accountancy, Economics and Entrepreneurship. The school follows a system of CCE - Continuous Comprehensive Evaluation for classes V - X where student's performance is assessed throughout the academic session on the basis of Formative and Summative assessments. 

The first president of India, His Excellency Dr Rajendra Prasad , in the presence of His Highness Maharaja Jiwaji Rao Scindia, Her Highness Maharani Vijaya Raje Scindia and Mrs Rajvanshi Devi Prasad , officially declared Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya open .The year was 1956. The school started on its journey with 31 students -out of which only six were boarders.

Affiliation:

Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and offers education to girls from class V to XII. The medium of instruction is English.

Faculty:

The school has qualified, experienced and dedicated teaching staff. It comprises about 50 trained graduate and post-graduate teachers, some faculties live on campus. This enables them to involve themselves in all the activities of the school. The teacher-student ratio of 1: 9 ensures attention to each child.

Admission Procedure

Admission to classes VI - IX is on the basis of an aptitude test in English, Hindi and Mathematics conducted in the month of November every year for the session beginning 1 April of the subsequent year. Admission to class XI is in July after the class X Board results. Candidates need to clear an interview in late June / early July in order to qualify. Preference is given to girls from CBSE schools.

The cut - off percentage for  each of the subject streams is as follows:

• Science                                                75% in General Science & in Maths.
• Humanities                                          70% in English and in Social Studies.
• Commerce (Without Maths)              70% in English, Social Studies & Maths.
• Commerce (With Maths)                    70% in English, Social Studies & 75% in Maths.

The Prospectus is available only from the Administrative Office, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, Gwalior on payment of Rs. 750/-

1. If downloaded copy of registration form is used for the registration of the student then a Demand Draft of Rs. 10800/- should be sent with the form.
2. For postal dispatch through registered AD/ Courier, a demand draft of Rs. 800/-( Rs 750/- for prospectus + Rs 50/- postal charges)  drawn in favour of Principal, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya to be registered with Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya to be considered for admission through an entrance test. The registration form is provided as a leaflet in the prospectus.
3. Duly filled registration form along with the registration fee and date of birth certificate issued by the Municipal Corporation should be submitted to the School. The School sends a letter of confirmation of registration along with registration number after scrutiny of the registration form.
4. Details of the registration fee (non refundable) can be obtained from the School office. The amount is to paid by Bank Draft in favour of the Principal, Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya, payable at Gwalior. Cheques are not acceptable.
5. On the basis of age, result in the entrance examination and the interview, the School decides the class to which the candidate is admitted. A medical certificate, in accordance with the prescribed form must be produced before admission. The School reserves the right to reject or admit any candidate.
6. Girls are not permitted to remain in the School after completion of 18th year, nor after failure in any class for two consecutive years. Girls are also not permitted to remain in the School on failing a public examination of Class X and Class XII.

Admission through Common Aptitude Analysis

• The school admits girls in classes VI to IX through an All India Level Entrance Examination. Admission to Class XI is based on Class X Board result and the aptitude test.
• Common aptitude test for 2016 is going to be held on 21 November 2015. The list of centers for CAA -2016 can be downloaded.
• The choice of centers will be for those who are registering before 4th of October '15. After that on spot registration can be done but the center will be Gwalior only
• On Spot Registrations Will be Available on 21^st November, 2015 at 9am at the School
