With a mission to impart the quality technical education to each and every segment of society, Reddyjana Sangha coveted dream came into existence in 1999 with the beginning of Vemana Institute of Technology. Karnataka Reddyjana Sangha, one of the pioneer in the field of Education guided by a well-known Educationist Sri. H.T. Somashekara Reddy. Vemana Institute of Technology is approved by All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi (AICTE) and is sanctioned by the government of Karnataka.

It is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum. Vemana IT is located in the heart of Bangalore city and has a well laid out campus and infrastructure with excellent facilities to pursue research and P.G. courses. The Institution is located in Koramangala, Bangalore, the silicon valley of India. Being located in the heart of city, it is well connected by good transport network. It is only 8 km each from city Railway station and cantonment Railway stations and 6 km away from Bangalore Airport. In a span of thirteen years, VIT has grown by leaps and bounds and has established all the infrastructure and facilities required as per the norms of affiliated University (VTU) and AICTE. The class apart infrastructure that has big and spacious class rooms and laboratories fully equipped with all the modern equipments and technology. The Institute has good interaction with IT Companies (both hardware and software). VIT invite the professionals from these companies for visits, guest lectures and seminars to provide the student a better exposure to the real world.

VIT has an excellent placement cell. The cell is responsible for generating and getting the students aware of information pertaining to the demands and the recruitments going on. Number of companies like Wipro, Tata Infotech and TYCO visited VIT recently and have recruited more than 50% of the final year student. 

Eligibility:

For BE: Admission to first year B.E. course is made for candidates through CET/COMED-K and Management Quota as per norms specified by Government of Karnataka and VTU from time to time.

Admission to First Year: Admission to first year shall be open for the candidates who have passed the Second year Pre-University Examination conducted by the Karnataka State Pre-University Board with Science Subjects.

OR

10 + 2 of the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary education) / ICSE (Indian certificate of Secondary education)

OR

Any other equivalent examination recognized by the University.

And

The candidate shall have secured not less than 45% of marks in the aggregate with Physics and Mathematics are compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects:- Chemistry, Bio-technology, Computer Science, Biology & Electronics. Provided that, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be 40% in optional subjects in case of candidate belongs to SC/ST and OBC. Provided that, the candidate shall have studied and passed English as one of the subject.

Admission to Second Year (Lateral Entry): The admission shall be opened for the candidates who are holders of a Diploma or equivalent examination, as recognized by University and has secured not less than 50% marks, in the final year examination (Fifth and Sixth Semesters) in respect of candidates belonging to SC/ST & OBC and in respect of others the candidate has secured not less than 45% Marks in the appropriate branch of engineering specified by government from time to time. Such a candidate shall clear prescribed bridge courses as specified by the University.

Facilities:

Library: The Libraries are the gateway to access thousands of printed & electronic resources for the users. Vemana IT library has a collection of 22,000 volumes with 6,900 titles covering various engineering subjects. Library has 50 International & National Journals, 15 Technical magazines and 11 Newspapers along with 6 years back volumes of the periodicals to update the knowledge. Beside it has good collection of CD's and OPAC facility is provided for users to locate the documents. Also Internet facility is provided with 18 branded systems. E-Journals subscription and Inter Library Loan facility is being provide for users benefit. Library functions are computerized with bar coding of books & ID cards.

Book Bank Scheme: Library has about 800 books in the book bank scheme and SC/ST candidates can use these books through an extra card issued to them.

Students Housing: Individual hostels for boys and girls serving homely, hygienic food and beverages are available for outstation students. Each hostel has an independent library. Girls' hostel is situated in the college campus and boys' hostel in a prime locality in the city. Adequate security measures are in place to ensure the safety of students. The student can apply for hostel by down loading and submitting the below mentioned form. General timings of the hostel are from 6AM to 8PM. Decent living facilities are provided along with day & night security.

Cultural Activities: Vemana IT also provides a platform for students to exhibit their extra circular activities. Inter class cultural fest "Kryptonite - 2011" signifies the multifarious activities which included events like Quiz, Mehandi, JAM, group dance, solo dance, etc. The events brought about vibrant colours along with igneous work of art which brought about creativity of students. Aalap - Music group brought laurels to Vemana IT numerous times by participating in Inter collegiate activities, and bagging numerous prizes.Vemana IT proved itself by culminating the events of Kryptonite on April 29th where a cultural was held.

N.S.S. Unit: To retain social values & cultural heritage a value based with movement "National Service Scheme" was started. It becomes a receptor between campus and community along with providing an opportunity for students through community service.

Educational Tours: Vemana Institute of Technology organizes educational tours all across India. This also consists of various industry visits pertaining to their educational streams. Educational Tours will expose the students to understand the socio economic and educational aspects of India, the opportunities this beautiful country carries for them.

Placement:

We strongly believe that students and the recruiting organizations are our prime concern. Training & placement cell serves as a link between engineering graduates and industry. During the academic year 2011 - 12, so far 250 students are placed out of 270 eligible students and placements are still in process.

To increase the number of placements and meet corporate level requirements in the areas of soft skills, aptitude and other essential areas, the placement cell conducts training programmes for each semester about 30 hours by reputed external agencies. In addition, it regularly organizes seminars, technical workshops, personality development programmes, mock test and other training programmes by the experts of different industries and R&D centers.
