About Us:


A distinguished group of health care visionaries set up the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) in 2009. They were impassioned by the urgent Public Health concerns that faced the nation. The emphasis was on fast tracking health care solutions that would meet the needs of a rapidly developing economy in need of health care intensity for its dynamic population. THSTI was mandated to advance knowledge to health care for the community. In the three years that have followed its inception, THSTI has developed with a zeal befitting the corridors of learning. Created as an autonomous institute by the Government of India, under the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science and Technology, THSTI will form a pivotal node in a broader cluster of institutes known as the NCR Biotech Science Cluster. Institutes in the cluster will specialize in translational research and related endeavors. It is an ambitious initiative that aims to create a unique institutional ecosystem for the conduct of truly multidisciplinary research for translation to targeted medical innovations for improvement of public health.

 

Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) invites applications for admission to Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) in Biomedical Science program at Graduate School of Medicine, Osaka University, Japan for the commencing session 2014. Applicants will be screened for compliance at THSTI, and then interviewed jointly by Osaka University and THSTI selection committee.

Eligibility:

 

Candidate must have Master’s degree in any branch of life science (including biomedical, health, pharmaceutical, nutritional science, public health, or nursing), veterinary science, engineering, mathematics, or a medical degree (MBBS, BDS, or equivalent) from a recognized university. Candidate must have scored 60% or higher marks in all examinations and 55% or higher marks in their qualifying examination. Except for candidates with medical or allied background (MBBS, BDS, or equivalent) and those with Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, and nursing, all others must have qualified the junior research fellowship examination of CSIR, UGC, ICMR, NBHM, DST and DBT. Candidates with medical or allied background (MBBS, BDS, or equivalent) or those with Master’s degree in public health, nutrition, and nursing, without a research fellowship will be required to appear in an objective type admission test to be conducted by THSTI in Gurgaon on 15th June 2014.

 

Candidates appearing in the finals of their qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to fulfill the necessary academic requirements at the time of joining the institute. SC/ST/PH candidates who have qualified a junior research fellowship examination and passed and/or appearing in the qualifying examination are eligible to apply for admission irrespective of their percentage of marks. Similarly, SC/ST/PH candidates with medical or allied background having passed or appearing in the qualifying examination are allowed to take the admission test irrespective of their percentage of marks.
