About Us:


The State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (SIHMCT), formerly known as Food Craft Institute(FCI) situated at Thuvakkudi, Tiruchirappalli, Tamilnadu, was established on 01/10/1981 by Govt. of India on the land and building transferred from the then Regional Engineering College, Tiruchirappalli (presently National Institute of Technology) measuring 26.57 acres with a building measuring 15,600 sq.ft. It is registered under Societies Act, 1975. It is jointly sponsored by the Govt. of India and Govt.of.Tamil Nadu..The Institute was upgraded from Food Craft Institute to State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology on 15.12.1998.The institute was started mainly to train and provide jobs to the youth in the various sectors of the hospitality industry, and to develop entrepreneurs. Hospitality industry has the potential of offering millions of direct and indirect job opportunities to the trained manpower.

 

The programs offered by the SIHMCT are under the aegis of National Council for Hotel management and catering technology, Noida and the course design lays emphasis on producing operational and managerial staff for the hospitality industry. The Institute has very good infrastructure and well qualified and experienced staff for training and developing the students. Tamil Nadu Government has declared this Institute as centre for excellence for Hospitality and Tourism education.

 

State Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Tiruchirappalli has provided high quality courses in Hotel & Catering for over three decades .The Institute has carved niche for itself in the field of Hospitality education and training. Eligibility:

 

For B.Sc HHA:

  • A pass in 10+2 system of Senior Secondary examination or its equivalent with English as one of the subjects. Candidate must have passed English as a subject of study (core/elective/functional) in the qualifying examination. Those appearing for 10+2 or equivalent examination can also appear for JEE 2015 on provisional basis. Provisional admission will stand cancelled if proof of having passed the qualifying examination (10+2 or its equivalent) is not submitted at the time of counselling or at the time of admission or latest by 30-09-2015. The offer of admission is subject to verification of original certificates/documents at the time of admission.
