SJEC is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, Karnataka State, and is recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi. Established in 2002, the College offers top class education in Engineering, Business Administration and Computer Applications at UG, PG and Research levels. It has well qualified staff, state of the art laboratories and all facilities. Presently about 2300 students are studying in the College. The College provides for a wide variety of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities which give a head-start to students, developing their personality and imparting skills of decision-making and leadership. Campus Placement Department assists student’s secure good jobs. Seven batches have passed out of the College since its inception in 2002. SJEC has recorded 98.27%, 94.32%, 94.59%, 93.23%, 98.08%, 96.98%, 95.43% passes. 348 students were placed through Campus placement.

 Eligibility:

BE :

• The candidate shall have passed the second year Pre University or XII standard or equivalent examinations held preceding the date of entrance test with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of the following subjects: Chemistry, Bio-Technology, Computer Science, Biology, Electronics and shall have secured not less than Forty Five (45%) percent of the aggregate marks in optional subjects, with English as one of the languages, for admission to Engineering & Technology Courses.
• Provided further that the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility shall be Forty percent (40%) of aggregate in optional subjects in case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Other Backward Classes specified in the relevant Government order for the purpose of reservation in respect of Engineering and Technology Courses.

B.E (Lateral Entry) :

Candidates who have passed a three year Diploma in Engineering with minimum of 45% marks (40% for SC/ST) in the final year are eligible for lateral entry. As part of their course, such candidates will have to study additional subjects as prescribed by the University.

M.Tech :

• Graduate in any discipline with 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/ Category 1) is eligible.

M.Sc :

The candidate who have passed B.E / B.Tech Examination of VTU or any other university with minimum of 60% or equivalent Grade. However, a relaxation to the extent of 10% shall be allowed to SC/ST or any other category as notified by the Government of Karnataka from time to time.

Teaching / Research Staff / Teaching Assistants working in any Engineering college or Polytechnic Institutions recognized by AICTE either in the State of Karnataka or outside, who have passed B.E / B.Tech Examination with minimum of One Year Teaching Experience.

                                                           OR

• Employees of the State Government / Central Government / Quasi Government Organizations / Public Sector Industries / Reputed Private Industries / Awardees of research fellowship by nationally recognized bodies like CSIR etc., who have passed B.E / B.Tech Examination with minimum of One Year working experience.
• A candidate satisfying the above criteria can meet the concerned Heads of the departments for further information.
• In addition to the above, the candidate shall be qualified in GATE or in the University Level Research Aptitude test, the result of which is valid for a period of Three years.

Placement :

To get a company to the campus for placements, the team establishes contact and finds out the requirement of manpower and infrastructure facilities for conducting campus selection. Sometimes, a few reputed IT companies like Infosys, Cognizant, Tech Mahindra have asked for details in the prescribed formats from the colleges in the consortium. At the initial stage they send their HR team to conduct a survey and decide the common pool centre for campus recruitment. After necessary study of the colleges, the companies ask for the resume of eligible students of final or pre-final year of different branches as per their requirement. They finalize a suitable date for conducting the campus selection at one of the consortium colleges after consultation with all stakeholders.
