School of Management Sciences was established in 1995 at holy city of Varanasi under the visionary leadership of Late Prof. Mukund Lal, former Head & Dean, FMS, BHU & patron ship of Dr. Bhishma Narain Singh, former Governor, Tamil Nadu, with the objective of providing world class management & computer education. Since then the institute has grown significantly from 27 students in 1995 to more than 1500 students at present owing to its sincere efforts in providing quality & need based professional education. The Institute is approved by AICTE Ministry of HRD, Government of India & New Delhi & affiliated to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University, (Formerly UPTU) Lucknow & Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith, Varanasi. SMS offers Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), Master of Business Administration (MBA), Master of Computer Applications (MCA), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Computer Applications (BCA) & Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) Programmes.

Eligibility:

For B.B.A.:

• Intermediate or 10+2 in any discipline.
• Duration = 3 years (6 Semesters)

For B.C.A.:

• Intermediate or 10+2 with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level.
• Duration = 3 years (6 Semesters)

For B.Com:

• The minimum qualification for admission shall be a 10+2 from any School / College in India or abroad recognized or equivalent thereto. For admission in B.Com course the candidate must have either Commerce or Economic or Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 levels. Candidates appearing in their final examination of 10+2 can also apply. Such students will have to provide their passing out mark sheet, at the time of final selection.
• Duration = 3 Years

For M.B.A.: Eligibility for the MBA Course is Graduate Degree in any discipline, with minimum 50% aggregate marks (or 45% in case of SC / ST Category) from a recognized Indian University or equivalent. Candidates appearing in final examination at graduate level may also apply. MBA course offers specialization in Marketing, HRM & Finance.

For M.C.A. (Lateral Entry):

• The programme is designed for those who have completed their Recognized Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3 years duration in BCA, B. Sc (IT / Computer Science) with Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level or at Graduate Level. The candidates should have obtained at least 50% (or 45% in case of SC / ST Category) marks in the qualifying Examination.
• Duration = 2 Years (4 Semesters) Full-Time program.
• Approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD & Govt. of India. & affiliated to Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (APJAKTU) formerly (UPTU), Lucknow.

For P.G.D.M.:

• Eligibility for this AICTE approved PGDM Course is Graduate Degree in any discipline, with minimum 50% aggregate marks (or 45% in case of SC/ST Category) from a recognized Indian University or equivalent. Candidates appearing in final examination at graduate level may also apply.
• PGDM Course is mounted for 2 Years (4 Semesters) time duration. Approved by AICTE, Ministry of HRD & Government of India.

Admission Procedure:

For B.Com / B.B.A. / B.C.A.:

• Admission on the basis of the aggregate score obtained in Written Test organized by SMS Varanasi, followed by Personal Interview.
• B.Com / B.B.A. / B.C.A. Course are affiliated with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidhyapith (MGKVP), Varanasi.

For M.B.A.: Students desirous of taking admission in MBA programme will have to appear in UPSEE examination conducted by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University (APJAKTU) formerly (UPTU) & should appear in counselling. For 15% management quota seats, direct admissions are taken on the basis of marks obtained in graduation & CAT /MAT / XAT / CMAT percentile followed by Personal Interview.

For P.G.D.M.: All India Written Test (CAT / MAT / XAT / CMAT) followed by Group Discussion & Interview of selected candidates becomes the basis for admission in management course. Few seats are reserved for Sponsored Category candidates in this management course. Such candidates are exempted from Written Test like CAT / MAT / XAT / CMAT.

Facilities:

Library: The SMS maintains a rich Library & Documentation Centre to fulfil the needs of the students joining different academic programmes. It has an excellent collection of more than 30,000 books on various core & specialized subjects in the fields of Management & Computer Technology.

Placement:

The Centre for Corporate Relations, an innovative & unique concept for a management institute has been set up with an objective of bringing industry & academia close to each other. CCR is a nodal centre which acts as a resource centre for faculty, students & Industry. In addition to organizing Management Development Programs, Consultancy, Research & In-company Training Programs, Industry visits, guest lectures, CEOs Forum, Quizzes, Corporate get-togethers, Alumni interaction etc. CCR actively involves students in various activities to develop the Participative Managerial Effectiveness. CCR also helps students by counselling them to choose an appropriate career depending on their aptitude & interest. It helps find the student, appropriate summer project & final placements. Students actively participate in formulating strategies for various events, industry summer & final placements. They closely work with CCR in securing placement for all students. The placement activity is entirely managed by the students belonging to various Professional courses including PGDM, PGDM-International Business as well as MCA, under the guidance of faculty & CCR Team.
