Roland Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences (RIPS), Berhampur was established in the year 1986 by the erstwhile M/s. Roland Pharmaceuticals, a reputed small-scale pharma industry to promote pharmacy education. Started with D. Pharmacy course, the institute made rapid strides and introduced Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate courses in quick succession. It has the distinction of being the First P.G. Pharmacy Institute in the state of Orissa, approved by the A.I.C.T.E.  in 2000-01, when M. Pharmacy course in Pharmaceutics was introduced. RIPS is managed by the Governing Body, duly registered under Society’s Act 1860 vide Registration No. GJM No. 922-21. The institute is approved by A.I.C.T.E., P.C.I. and Govt. of Orissa, and affiliated to Biju Patnaik University of Technology (BPUT) and Berhampur University, Berhampur, Odisha.

Hostel Facilities :

The college having a wide hinterland has good hostel facilities for both male and female students. Students are admitted to the hostels on the basis of the distance of their residence from the hostels and their respective merit. There are nine hostels, six for boys and three for girls. The main Boy’s  hostel is located in front of the college campus and the others right next to the campus having capacity of 75 students, whereas one of the girl’s hostel on the campus and other two are near campus with a capacity of 50 students.There are specific rules and regulations for both the hostels (to be put up in the respective notice boards) violation of which may lead to severe punishment, even cancellation of boardership. Each room of the hostel is furnished with modern furniture, viz., cot, study table and chair  and wardrobe . Other facilities that are provided within hostels include Sports, Newspaper, Magazines, Periodicals, continuous Aqua Fresh Cooled water and electric supply, spacious bathrooms, and toilets. Security guards provide 24-hour attention. We have 24x7 medical attention  within the hostel.All the hostels have a warden who is usually a faculty member, to supervise and to address any grievances.

Training and placements :

A full-fledge Career Counselling & Placement Cell is dedicated to counsel the students and facilitates placement through campus and alumni co-ordinated efforts. The RIPS Placement Cell has been very active and making constant/continuous efforts to arrange placement in reputed and top-notch pharma companies in the country. We have achieved 100% placement and through both in-campus and off-campus interviews. We have a strong Alumni Association, and through the reference of our passed-out students who are well placed in most of the pharma industries. We have been successfully getting placement/jobs for our students, both from B. Pharm and M. Pharm. Last year i.e.in 2014, industries including M/s Easai Pharmaceutical India Ltd., Aurobindo Pharma, GSK, Mumbai, Glenmark, Mumbai, Darex Labs, Hyderabad and Divis’ Labs, Hyderabad organized Campus Interview and selected the students.
