Khaja Bandanawaz Institute of Medical Sciences (KBNIMS) is a Minority institution which was started in 2000 after obtaining permission from the Govt. of India. The college is now recognized by the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India and approved by Medical Council of India. The College is affiliated to Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Bangalore. Every year 100 scholars who enrol into this institution transform themselves into qualified medical professionals.

 

KBNIMS has most modern laboratories which are equipped with all the necessary medical tools and equipments for a better learning experience. The institution has provision for separate Hostels for Boys and Girls. Similarly, recreational facilities and activities are provided independently.The emphasis is given to integrated and bed-side teaching with community orientation. A centrally air-conditioned Auditorium with a seating capacity of 750 serves the community needs of the students.

UNDER GRADUATE PROGRAMMES

MBBS

 

The Medical Council of India (MCI) revised the M.B.B.S curriculum. It came into effect from May 1997. Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences implemented the new regulations for the batches of students admitted to the M.B.B.S course from the academic year 1997-98 onwards.

  

Facilities : The college runs a hostel each for the men and women students of the college within the campus at Gulbarga. The hostel buildings with spacious rooms, lounges, recreation room having colour television sets in each of the hostels, with all other modern amenities, are built to ensure comfortable stay of the inmates, and a proper atmosphere for study. The women students’ hostel, with a view to ensure absolute safety of the inmates, is fenced properly and secured.

 

Admission to Hostel: Students desirous of availing of the hostel facility must apply to the concerned hostel warden. Applications will be considered by the Principal, in consultation with the warden. The names of the selected applicants will be announced on the respective hostel notice boards before the reopening of the college. The principal has the right to grant or refuse admission to the hostel to any student at his own discretion without assigning any reason for his decision.

 

Hostel administration: The administration of each hostel is vested in the respective warden. A separate hostel committee for mens’ and womens’ hostel are constituted for administrative purposes. Each committee is formed by the Principal, four senior professors, the wardens and two students representatives residing in the hostel. This committee meets at frequent intervals to review and lay down necessary guidelines to run the hostel efficiently, economically and in a disciplined way. The Student representatives run the mess in the mens’ and womens’ hostel under the supervision and guidance of the warden.

 

Room allotment: The allotment of rooms is solely at the discretion of the warden concerned. Boarders shall not change the rooms allotted, to them without the permission of the warden concerned.

 

The Central Library has a sufficient number of text books in all subjects in the ratio of 1 book to 10 students with access to audio-visual aids, Micro Film Reader, MEDLINE database, Proquest Medical Library connected to HELINET by RGUHS & Internet. Email Services are available to enable teachers, Post graduates and researchers to get the latest references as well as past journals for their dissertation and research work. Computers, video and TV, Photocopier, film reader etc., are also available. Both national and foreign journals are subscribed to in each subject to meet the demands of learning and to keep abreast with recent literature in each specialty.

  • The central library has about 14,100 books on various subjects. We keep adding new titles and revised editions to the library every year. Apart from textbooks and reference volumes, the library subscribes to a large number of specialized foreign journals of repute.
  • The Central Library functions between 9.00 A.M and 11.00 P.M
  • Apart from the central library every department maintains its own departmental library facility for their staff and PG students. These libraries, in addition to the textbooks in the concerned specialties, maintain specialized journals and magazines also.
