JSS Mahavidyapeetha was established in the year 1954 the Jagadguru Sri Shivarathreeswara Mahavidyapeetha has been described by many eminent educationists as greater than a University, because under its aegis a child can begin its education in the kindergarten and proceed to earn a degree as well as a doctorate in several branches of learning. Simultaneously the Mahavidyapeetha has not neglected to strengthen the roots of our ancient knowledge, wisdom and culture and their application in the day-to-day life. Sanskrit Pathashalas, Yoga Kendras, Spiritual Retreats, Gurukulas, Art and Cultural forums are doing this work.

JSS Academy of Technical Education (JSSATE) was established in the year 1997 at Bangalore and is under the umbrella of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, Mysore. JSSATE is the result of the vision of our President, His Holiness Jagadaguru Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Mahaswamiji to proactively participate in establishing a world class Institution for Technical Education. The Campus is located in a sprawling 21.17 acres land surrounded by lush green plantation on the South-Western edge of Bangalore City. Institution is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU), Belgaum, India. JSSATE, Bangalore has an excellent infrastructure with the state-of-the art equipment and machinery as laboratory facilities. The Institution has spacious classrooms and the laboratories. The whole building is networked and has centralized browsing facility with 20 Mbps dedicated internet bandwidth.  Entire college has Wi-Fi facility. The Institute has highly qualified faculty. The Institute has initiated number of multi disciplinary and multi-Institutional R&D programmes with AICTE, DST and other departments. Under the R & D activity, the  Institute has taken up the design and fabrication of BIO-Diesel plant in collaboration with an industry and it is sponsored by Department of Science & Technology (DST), Government of India. This was recognized as one of the best completed project and same is being replicated in different states. The Institute has a centralized library with open access facility for students.  The Institute Digital library has on-line access to International journals. Book bank facility is available for students.

Eligibility:

For B.E:

• Candidates who have passed PUC/10+2 examination with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of the subjects either Chemistry or Biology or Electronics or Computer Science are eligible. They should score at least 45% of marks in the above subjects taken together.
•  40% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category
• Lateral Entry to Second Year Bachelor of Engineering B.E,
• Candidates should have passed Three year Diploma examinations from an AICTE approved institution with at least 50% marks in appropriate branch of Engineering / Technology.
• 45% in case of candidates belonging to reserved category.
• 50% of the seats will be filled by Government of Karnataka through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Bangalore.

For M.Tech: Admissions to M.Tech. programmes will be through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Government of Karnataka. Candidates with valid “GATE” score are also eligible for admissions to M.Tech. programmes.

For MBA:

• The Candidates should have passed the prescribed qualifying examinations with not less than 50% marks.
• Admissions to MBA programme will be through Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), Government of Karnataka.
• 50% of the total intake to be filled by PGCET and 50% by the Management.

Facilities:

Boys Hostel: The boy's hostel of the Institute is located in the JSSATE Campus,

• The hostel can accommodate around 500 students.
• Three students are accommodated in a room.
• Few rooms are with two occupancy and attached bath & toilet.
• First year, charges would be Rs. 42000/- and
• Subsequent year, charges would be Rs. 30,900/-
• Pure vegetarian mess facility is available in the hostel.
• It is compulsory for all the students residing in hostel to be a member of the mess. The mess charges are to be paid every month.
• At present mess charges are Rs. 2,150/- per month.

Girls Hostel: The girl's hostel of the Institution is in the Campus,

• The hostel can accommodate around 220 students.
• Three students are accommodated in a room.
• Few rooms are with two occupancy and attached bath & toilet.
• First year, charges would be Rs. 42000/- and
• Subsequent year, charges would be Rs. 30,900/-
• Pure vegetarian mess facility is available in the hostel.
• It is compulsory for all the students residing in hostel to be a member of the mess. The mess charges are to be paid every month.
• At present mess charges are around Rs. 1400/- per month.

Library: The JSSATE-Bangalore Library is a veritable feast of knowledge and is available to students and faculty.  It is housed presently in ground floor of the college building with 600-sq.mts.carpet area. It has a comprehensive collection of literature predominantly related to engineering, management, and its allied subjects to meet the present and future information needs of the users. The library is currently headed by the Mrs.Lakshmi Basappa The Library has a collection of about 28,000 documents. The Library subscribes to important technical journals. The Library also has access to good number of e-journals from renowned publishers IEEE, ASME etc. to facilitate speedy online access to journals.  A quite good collection of CD’s and floppies will supplements teaching and research works for potential users. The Infrastructure has a centralized Library with open access facility for students.  There is also a book bank facility for needy students to borrow the books for the entire semester. In addition no. of CD’s are available for students to barrow on overnight basis . Entire Library is computerized to facilitate smooth functioning. Digital Library is established to access on line database and online Journals. Photocopying facility is also provided; Departmental Libraries are also setup by all the major departments.

Placement:

The placement department got a head start during the academic year 2002-03. The brilliance, dynamism and high academic performance of students made it possible for the department to attract high profile recruiters. In 2003, our college was placed in 8th place among the top 10 colleges in Karnataka, under VTU. This was one of the factors which contributed for admirable functioning of the placement department. The department is not only conducting recruitment process but also organising necessary personality development programmes for the students. For example, the soft skill training by the experts has been moulding the students in improving their employability factor. The department counsels and pours self confidence to face the challenges in the future. The department also coordinates in organising HR Seminars by inviting high profile HR executives from both IT and Non IT companies.Department also facilitates Industrial visits for the students which would improve Industry-Academy relationship. The Average placement is 95%
