IPIRTI is an autonomous body under the Ministry of Environment & Forest Govt. of India. Ministry of Environment & Forest Govt. of India with the Minister in charge of the portfolio of Environment Forests as its President and the Secretary of the Ministry as its Chairman.  The Institute, which was started as a co-operative Research Association of the Plywood Industry and the CSIR in 1962, has evolved into a dynamic and creative organization dedicated in developing new environment friendly technologies for wood based industry.

It is internationally recognized center of expertise with an exhaustive source of data and information in the area of wood science and technology with particular reference to wood based panels. With nearly four decades of experience and expertise, the Institute eagerly looks forward to working on funded projects and expanding its list of members in the interest of involving a global fraternity of individuals, organizations and industries operating in the wood industries with interests of the environment at their heart.

The PGDC in WPPT aims at imparting professional knowledge and skills with regard to processing technologies for efficient utilization of wood through conversion into engineered wood and a variety of panel materials/products viz plywood, particle/fiber board, block board, flush door The course also includes processing technology on bamboo mat based panel products and adhesive technology Standardization aspects with respect to quality management and BIS certification are dealt with in details Working knowledge on use of computers and internet is also imparted Emphasis is given not only to theoretical background of various technologies but also practical and hands on exercises The PGDC in WPPT is the only course of its type available in the country that has been widely recognized by the Industry

Intake: Annual intake of candidates for the course is restricted to 30

Post Graduate Diploma in Wood and Panel Products Technology (PGDWPPT)

Eligibility:

Graduate in Science (B.Sc. in Chemistry/Physics/Mathematics/Agriculture)/ Engineering (B.E. /B. Tech) from any recognized University

Age Limit: 28 years (as on 01st November 2022) Relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/PH as per Govt. Of India rules; age limit is also relaxable for candidates sponsored by Industries

Selection Method: Based on marks obtained in B.Sc./ B.E. Reservations for SC/ST/OBC/PH will be as per GOI Rules.

Career Prospects: Institute facilitates industrial placement of students every year through campus recruitment
