Bijapur, once the cradle of Vachankaras and Vachanan Literature, became the capital of the Adil Shahi’s who constructed world famous monuments like Gol-Gumbaz and Ibrahim Roza. In the course of history, though a district of five rivers, it remained backward in every respect under the British rule. An educationally and economically backward district Bijapur had a bright ray of hope when men of philanthropy founded Bijapur Liberal District Education Association (BLDEA) with a visionary zeal in year 1910. The BLDEA meant to accomplish the twin objectives mentioned below by starting schools and colleges for the deserving poor of the district. Instituting scholarships and prizes Running free houses and hostels for the needy.

Behind the inception of this association was the vision, foresight, and relentless efforts of eminent lovers of Knowledge like Vachana Pitamaha Dr. P.G. Halakatti, Shivayogi Sangana Basava Swamiji of Banthanal and their disciples. Further, its patron the late Shri. B.M. Patil, the then Minister in Government of Karnataka, fostered and elevated the Association to its present academic qualitative and quantitative heights. At present the BLDE Association has honed and nurtured 75 educational institutions ranging from High Schools to Professional Colleges which include Medical College under BLDE University, Engineering, Business Management, Fine Arts, Law, Education, Pharmacy etc. Today BLDE Association glows as one of the leading educational associations of Karnataka, conceived with a framework under the dynamic President and well known versatile visionary Shri M.B. Patil, Minister for Major Irrigation, Govt. of Karnataka.

Facilities:

HOSTEL: Hundreds of students from all across the state live in hostel premises, which come closest to being 'a home away from home'. The separate facilities for boys and girls, caring wardens and a tight security ensure a pleasant stay allowing the students to focus on academics. Whilst internet access and best lab facilities ensure close contact with family and friends outside, the fully equipped common rooms allow for that relaxed time with friends on Campus. The College has a elegantly constructed Girls’ Hostel in the campus having two , three and four seaters. Hygienically prepared nutritious food, recreation room equipped with T.V., facility of games and internet, exemplary discipline with desired freedom make the hostel a home away from home. We appreciate parents’ anxiety regarding a safe and secure environment for their wards. The wardens in both the hostels act as guardians for the hostellers. LIBRARY: Library occupies a place of pride at BLDEA's V.P.Dr P.G.Halakatti College of Engg & Tech and is an essential component of the college's outstanding research and education mission. Recognizing the role of library and information services in meeting the requirements of the college's academic, research and training programmers, the Library was set-up as one of the key divisions of the BLDEA's V.P.Dr P.G.Halakatti College of Engg & Tech. It is a most lively place on the campus providing a safe, comfortable and friendly environment that enables learning and advancement of knowledge, and promotes discovery and scholarship.
