National Institute of Technology (NIT) Uttarakhand is one among the ten newly sanctioned NITs in 2009 by Government of India under the 11th five year plan. The Institute is fully funded by Government of India under the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Presently, NIT Uttarakhand is carrying out its activities from its temporary campus at Government Polytechnic, Srinagar Garhwal, Uttarakhand. A new temporary campus is also functional at old ITI Campus near Government Polytechnic. Presently the Institute is running full time B. Tech. Program in Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering with intake of 60 students in each branch.

Eligibility:

For B.Tech: A pass in Intermediate class level with atleast 50% marks and a valid JEE main score is eligible for attending a B.Tech Program at NIT Uttarakhand.The institute is intake 60 students to each departments every year.

For Ph.D: A candidate is eligible for registration for Ph.D if he/she satisfies the following conditions:

• A Master’s degree in the concerned or an allied subject with a minimum of 1st class (C.P.I or C.G.P.A.greater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale if class is not provided) or a minimum of 1st class (C.P.I or C.G.P.Agreater than 6.75 on a 10 point scale if class is not provided) at Bachelors level with at least 55% marks at Master’s level. Desirable: GATE score/NET/SET.

Training and Placement: Uttarakhand (NIT UK) is one among the ten newly established NITs by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Government of India, providing technical education in various branches of Engineering. The Institute started in 2010 with three branches viz. Electrical and Electronics, Electronics and Communication and Computer Science & Engg. In the Academic year 2012-2013 Mechanical Engineering and in the Academic year 2013-2014, Civil Engineering has been started. The Institute admits students to B.Tech. courses through Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains (formerly known as AIEEE) conducted all over India by CBSE.
