The Birla Education Trust, a pioneer in the field of Indian education, was founded at Pilani in 1929 by the great visionary, renowned industrialist and patriot, Dr. G.D. Birla. Pilani has since emerged as an educational township, with reputable institutions like BITS, Birla Public School, Birla Balika Vidyapeeth, Birla Senior Secondary School, B.K Birla Institute of Engineering and Technology, BTTI, Birla Sanskrit College and Birla Shishu Vihar, established there. B.E.T has now vested its experience of decades in founding the brand new Birla International School. This school provides world class education with the choice of an Indian or an International curriculum for boys and girls from India and abroad. The school offers a continuous progression from Grades III to XII Grades will be added every year to take the school up to Grade XII in five years.
The Curriculum To nurture of students as global learners, the Academic programme of the school is based on curricula drawn from the Cambridge International Examinations and CBSE. It is constituted in four stages: Elementary, Middle, Secondary and Senior Secondary. The system of CCE and formative and summative assessment, followed throughout, lead to seamless, progressive and continuous education.
The Elementary School is from Grades III to V. The Cambridge International Primary Programme (CIPP), with additional components to meet local needs enable children to think about their studies from an international perspective. The aim is to provide a holistic development and a firm, relevant and useful foundation in mathematics, English and Science, incorporating the best practices introduced by the CBSE and NCERT.
The Middle School is from Grades VI to VIII. It builds on the elementary stage and develops the children’s knowledge and skill in Mathematics, English and Science. At the end of this phase, students can sit for the Cambridge checkpoint tests for feedback before they move to the next stage or continue with the CBSE programme. The Housemaster/Housemistress and teachers help to monitor & academic growth and development of each child. The curriculum prepares students for the secondary school of the CBSE/IGCSE.
In Grades IX and X, students may have an option to go on with the CBSE or take up the IGCSE curriculum. IGCSE students will be given a choice of subjects and each subject will be certified separately. After the secondary level, students can either go in for CIE’s A/AS examinations, which are equivalent to Plus 2 from the Indian Board, or follow the CBSE programme.
Senior Secondary School
In the final phase of education, the students will be prepared for the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination from the CBSE or Cambridge International A/AS, the latter being the International benchmark qualification recognized by universities worldwide. If there is a demand, the school may consider offering, as an alternative, the IB Diploma Programme as well. To summarize, the education and training imparted here will be at par with the best anywhere, and will enable the student to confidently attempt any higher education course, anywhere in the world, while equipping him to face life in general.
