Joint Admission Test in Assam (Assam JAT)

Every year Director of Technical Education, Assam conducts Assam Joint Admission Test (Assam JAT) for the first year of Under Graduate Professional courses. Students for all the Engineering Colleges, Medical Colleges, Regional Dental College and Ayurvedic College of the State of Assam and NIT (Assam state quota) are selected through JAT Assam.

Assam JAT Entrance Pattern:

Students appearing in Assam Joint Admission Test for B.Tech engineering entrance courses in Assam must follow Assam JAT exam pattern & question paper in Assam JAT is divided in four parts as given below.

  • Mathematics: 100 Marks 
  • Physics: 100 Marks 
  • Chemistry: 100 Marks
  • Biology: 100 Marks

The duration of entrance exam paper is of three hours. Keep in mind that merit list of ASSAM JAT entrance exam will be prepared on the basis of the candidates’ performances in Assam Joint Admission Test; the Directorate of Technical Education Assam prepares a merit list to finalize the selection of the candidates for the undergraduate programs.

Eligibility:

 

To be eligible to admission into any of the Engineering College in Assam a candidate must fulfil the following eligibility criteria as set by board.

  • Be an Indian Citizen and a permanent resident of Assam,
  • Pass the Higher Secondary Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council or its equivalent, in which the subjects English, Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics have been cleared in the same sitting.
  • Pass the qualifying Examination securing at least 50% & (45% in case of SC and 40% in case of ST) marks in the aggregate of the subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in the same sitting.

Exemption from Admission Test:

The following categories of candidate are exempted from appearing in the Assam Joint Admission Test. Candidate nominated against reserved seat for other State, Union Territories and Foreign Countries by their respective Government provided they satisfy the conditions for eligibility criteria Assam JAT. Candidate ranked within the first ten positions in the Higher Secondary (Science) Examination of the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council, provided they get not less than 75% marks in aggregate in the year which they seek admission. Such candidate must appy for direct admission within 10 days of publication of their qualifying Examination results to the Director of Technical Education, Assam.
