Thoothukudi Government Medical College which is situated in the south East coastal city of Tamil Nadu – The PEARL CITY – MUTHU NAGAR – PORT CITY – Thoothukudi. We welcome you to join with us to uplift the downtrodden.Thoothukudi Medical College was started and functioning from 16.08.2000. In this college, Non-Clinical and Clinical departments are functioning. Sanction has been given for admission of 100 students for M.B.B.S. course every Academic year from the year 2000-2001.

 

All the services are provided free of cost to people below poverty. Now 1112 beds are available in our Thoothukudi Medical College Hospital. An average of 2800 Out-patients and 590 In-patients are treated here daily. Moreover, an average of 465 deliveries, 630 major surgeries, 460 minor surgeries and 160 family welfare sterilizations are carried out here per month.A special ward has now been set up for the patients affected by Dengue fever and qualified Medical Officers have also been entrusted with the treatment of dengue fever.       A special ward with air-conditioning facility has been located in the new building for various treatments under Chief Minister Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme (CMCHIS). In this Medical College Hospital, Integrated Counselling and Testing Centre (ICTC), Revised National Tuberculosis Control Project (RNTCP), National Leprosy Eradication Project, Anti Retiro Viral Therapy (ART) for HIV testing, etc. are functioning. Transport facilities such as Ambulance and Mortuary Van are also readily available here.

MBBS :

  • Candidate should be a citizen of India :
  • Nativity: Candidate should be a native of Tamilnadu
  • Age: Should have completed the age of 17 years on or before 31st December (Evidence to be produced)
  • Marks : 
  1.   Other Communities : Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 140 out of 200 marks
  2.   BC & BCM : Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 130 out of 200 marks
  3.   MBC : Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 120 out of 200 marks
  4.   SC, SCA, ST :  Weighted aggregate of the percentage of marks should not be less than 80 out of 200 marks
  • The candidates under Physically challenged Category- (Locomotory disability of lower limbs alone). OC/BC/BCM/MBC/DC should have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in each prescribed subject in the qualifying examination.
