SSIET, Patti in Punjab was established as a degree level Professional institution in 2004 undertaking B. Tech Courses, The college is approved by AICTE and Punjab Government and is affiliated to PTU, Jalandhar.SSIET, Patti (Amritsar) is committed for imparting the best technical education. It is situated at Patti which is 45 Km from Amritsar, 60 Km from Moga and 40 Km from Beas. Spread over an area of 65,000sq. yards, the college campus is modern, attractive and well equipped for comfort, convenience and academic pursuits. This campus offers a large number of special opportunities for students. Apart from the lecutre rooms, it has fully furnished Computer LabsI, Multimedia Rooms, Tutorial room, Communication lab with Audio ,Video facility and Conference Hall.

The college is equipped with learning facilitators & gadgets ranging from Overhead Projectors, Slide Projectors, Xerox Machine, TV, VCR & Audio Players, Multimedia Projectors & Smart Boards. In order to meet the demands of Computer & IT related courses, the college has state-of-the-art computer labs equipped with systems having Corei7/ Quad Core/ Core2Duo processors & LCD Monitors and other gadgets like scanners, laser & inkjet printers, multi-function printers, digitizers, colored laser printers etc.

All the departments are connected to Local Area Network (LAN) with Fibre Optics Backbone thorugh Network Resource Center which is equipped with HP Proliant Servers running Windows Server 2008 R2 providing network services as Domain Controller & File Server. The internet is available for 24 hours in all the college labs and departments. Wi-Fi network is also availabe in the main parts of the campus.

Eligibility:

For B.Tech:

• Canditates must pass 10+2 or equivalent examination conducted by a recognized Board/University/Council with physics, chemistry and mathematics/Comp.Sci.,Bio Chem./Biology.
• year Diploma in any Branch of Engg./ Two year Diploma from SSIET with 50% Marks .
• Lateral Entry into B.TECH. 2nd Year for Diploma Holders.

Admission Procedure

For B.Tech: A candidate will be eligible for admission to B.Tech. if he/she fulfills the following conditions in First Year and Second Year:-

• All those candidates who have passed 10+2 examination with Physics, Mathematics as compulsory subjects and any one of the following optional subjects i.e. Chemistry/Biology/ Biotechnology/Computer Science.
• Those candidates who have passed diploma in any Engineering Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education, Chandigarh or Diploma/Certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering & Technology, Longowal (District Sangrur) or such Examination from any other recognised State Board of Technical Education, passed ITI from Technical Board and +2 Vocational.

Facilities:

Library: The Library uses Libsoft software package which is an integrated multi-user library management system that supports all in-house operations of the Library. The Libsoft consists of modules on acquisition, cataloguing, circulation, serials, and OPAC. The database of books available in the Library is being updated on day to day basis with details of recently acquired books. Records of all the Library patrons have also been created in the Libsoft package. SSIET has good and huge collection of books, journals, magazines, conferences, newspaper in its library. The library is centralized. The library of institute offers a variety of information sources like textbooks and journals of national and international level. College also has membership of all national standards.

At a time library can accommodate more then 200 students can be accommodated in the library. Library has more then 21,322 books and 104 national and international journals. For each and every course and branch library has books of all famous and well known authors. Library do issues membership cards to the students and staff. Library books can be issued to the person, having membership cards, in fact there is also a reference section in library, where students may study all displayed books, news paper, journals. The library room, a sprawling space at the farthest end of the college building, with little noise filtering in.

Hostel: There are separate hostels for boys and girls within and off the campus. Each hostel has an activity centre, common room, reading room, dinning room with mess, canteen till late hours & other basic amenities like hot water supply in winter. Hostel rooms are spacious and airy. Students may have 3 and 4 seater rooms, which are well furnished. Hostel mess is also quite spacious, in fact at a time more then 100 students can be served there. Round the clock electricity, water and medical aids are there. Hostel also has indoor game facilities for the students. Just for convenience of students, hostel provides all facilities like water cooler, geysers, bathroom are there in the rooms.

The hostel is an integral part of the building. College has separate hostels for boys and girls; in fact there are three boy’s hostels in the campus. The hostel adds a dimension of potency and commitment to the academic and extra curricular ambience of the college. Students who want to avail hostel facility have to fill hostel form separately, which they can get from admin office. There are certain rules and regulations for hostel. Also a hostel warden is there to look after hostel.

Transportation: College do provide transport facility to all students, who are local or resides in the city. For the students transport facility is provided to them on some nominal charges. Students may opt for the facility individually; buses are in good condition and are of well known traveller. Institute also has some own buses. To reduce travelling time, students may opt for the bus facility. Buses have fix time schedule for arrival to and departure from the college. So at a fix time students may arrive to college and may leave the college. College buses do leave the institute. They cover almost all routes. Institute own 25buses running from various cities of Punjab in order to reduce the day scholars dependence on public transport. These buses ply throughout the day to cater the transportation needs of the students.

Placement:

SSIET, Patti has an independent Placement Office devoted to cater to the needs of organizations in conducting campus interviews for placements. It is headed by a Professor designated as Placement Officer with additional charge and he is supported by a full time permanent placement Co-ordinator. The office is also assisted by student placement Co-ordinators who lead a team of placement representatives from various courses of study. The Placement Office ensures and takes care to provide the best arrangements and hospitality for the visiting companies' officials.

The Placement Office, functions in a separate air conditioned block with all audio visual facilities, written test, group discussion and interviews and has rapidly progressed over the years in enhancing the placement potential effectively. It plays a very important and key role in counseling and guiding the students of the college for their successful career placement which is crucial interface for the students between the stages of completion of academic programme of studies and entry into the suitable employment. This Office also coordinates various activities related to the career of the students along with the industrial training. More than 90 reputed national and multinational companies visit SSIET, Patti for campus recruitment annually.

It is expected that more than 90% of the students will secure job offers before they complete their programme of studies and leave the college.
