SDM Institute of Technology, Ujire, established in 2007, is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University and is approved by AICTE. The guiding spirit and the driving force for all the progress and achievements of our institution is the President Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Shri Kshethra Dharmasthala. The institute focuses on integrating scientific training with value based education, to enable the all round development of the learners. Industrial activity is on the rise in Dakshina Kannada and neighbouring districts. There is a growing demand for technical work force in the region, especially in areas like Electronics and Information Technology. It is projected that more IT Companies may choose Dakshina Kannada as a base for their expansion in the near future.

However, most of the Engineering Colleges are located in the urban area. So SDM Institute of Technology focuses on promoting quality technical education in the region, to create a paradigm shift among the rural community that education is of paramount importance for socio economic development.

Eligibility:

For BE: Admission for the First year of the courses shall be open to students who have passed the two year pre-university examination conducted by the Karnataka state Pre-university Board or any other equivalent Examinations recognized by the University, with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in PCM/PME/PM Comp. Sc./PM Biology/ PM Biotechnology. However for SC, ST & OBC students the required percentage is 40.

Facilities:

Hostels: The College has separate Girls and Boys hostels within the campus. The hostel is elegantly built with ample spacious rooms, attached bathrooms, hot water, internet facility, south and north Indian mess. The hostels are also located within the college campus.

Library: Library is considered as the real powerhouse of any educational institution. Library is situated in a separate building having 2 floors with an area of 1,306sq .mtr. with all modern amenities and facilities which can accommodate 300 users at a time. The infrastructure has a centralized library with open access for users. It has more than 27,000 collections which include books, periodicals, bound volumes, student projects and book - bank books. Library automation refers to the use of computers to automate the typical procedures of library such as cataloguing and circulation. SDMIT Library is automated with an in-house developed software EERPMS for data entry, information storage, retrieval, circulation, stock verification, OPAC, report generation, bar-coding of books, scanning students IDs etc. is used to improve the quality, speed, accuracy and effectiveness of service.

Training & Placement cell

Seven days First Phase Training Program is started with giving instructions and suggestions to the trainers by Dr. K. Suresh, Principal, SDMIT, Ujire. Four trainers from the training institute were started the session to the final year students of all the branches sharp at 9.30 am. There were 240 students (4 batches of 60 students each) participating in week long training program which helps to prepare them for placement activities. This first phase training programme covers mainly aptitude and soft skills. Second phase of the training program starts tentatively by third week of August 2014, that is just before the recruiting companies starts coming to the college.
