Malout Institute of Management and Information Technology is brought up under the able guidance of Board of Governors, headed by Hummable Technical Education Minister, Govt. of Punjab. Located in the Green Field Enclave, Malout (Punjab), the self contained campus is a beautiful academic and administrative three storied building spread over 25 acres of land which has been magnificently and aesthetically designed by the Chief Architecture of Punjab. MIMIT is the only Govt. Institute to offer both MBA & B. Tech programs in Punjab. At present, it is offering four undergraduate courses, i.e. B. Tech.-IT, CSE, ECE & ME and one postgraduate course, i.e. MBA. MIMIT is 3rd of its kind in India to offer certified courses recognized by SUN Microsystems. The institute has a certified academy for training students in collaboration with CISCO Inc. The institute offers an inspiring learning environment, which transforms our bright young scholars into talented, creative and disciplined professionals. The Institute also has a centrally Air-Conditioned double storied Computer Centre equipped with a number of computers, mainly with C2D configuration. It is connected to LAN and has the latest technology, licensed software and peripherals along with around the clock internet access through 25 Mbps leased line(1:1).  On its lush green, pollution-free campus, it has well designed and graciously built separate hostels for boys and girls having capacity for 350 boys and 150 girls respectively with all modern facilities

Eligibility:

For B. Tech:

• For admission to B. Tech. (CSE, ECE, IT & ME) courses, the candidate must have appeared in JEE-2013 (Main) for 85% quota (Punjab State)/ JEE-2013 (Main) for 15% quota (other states) and also fulfil the following conditions:
• He/ She have passed the 10+2 / Diploma or its equivalent examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University/ Council.

Passed 10+2 Examination from a board recognized or established by Central / State Govt. through a legislation with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the following subjects:

• Chemistry
• Biology
• Biotechnology
• Computer Science

                                                                                              OR

Passed their 10th or 10+2 examination with science stream and passed diploma in any Engineering Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (SLIET).

                                                                                              OR

Any such examination from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education.

                                                                                              OR

• Have passed two years certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (SLIET) shall be eligible.
• The candidates who are appearing in the qualifying examination shall also be eligible to appear for counselling based on JEE-2013.The admission of such candidates shall be purely provisional and shall stand cancelled, if they fail to produce their eligibility at the time of admission and such candidates shall have no claim, whatsoever, for admission to these courses through Counselling.

For Lateral Entry in B. Tech. 2nd year:

Lateral Entry admission to B. Tech. programmer for Diploma holder (s) at the 2nd year level is made through the counselling conducted by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar on the basis of merit prepared from the marks secured in the Diploma stream and also fulfil the following conditions:

• Admission in lateral entry (B. Tech. 2nd year) eligibility criteria as per Punjab Govt. Notification/ PTU Information Brochure.

For M. Tech:

B.E. / B. Tech. in Mechanical Engineering/ Industrial Engineering/ Production Engineering/ Manufacturing Engg./ Welding Engineering/ Material Sc. Engg./ Metallurgy engineering with at least 50% marks in aggregate.

Note: AMIE graduates including graduates from other Govt. recognized professional body’s equivalent to AMIE with 50% or above marks in their exams in such body may also take admission to M. Tech. with the condition that the branch adopted at graduation level must be same as the specialization applied for.

A valid gate score would be preferred but is not must for admission to M. Tech.

For MBA:

All those candidates who have passed Bachelors Degree of minimum three year duration in any discipline from a University recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and with valid rank in CMAT shall be eligible to apply for MBA course.

Training & Placement:

The college has a separate Training   and Placement cell managed by  a  dedicated  team. The cell acts as a linker for the Industrial Training and Placement of students. The Training and Placement cell establishes contacts with industrial houses to arrange training and placement of the students. The  Training  and  Placement  cell also guides and  helps  the  Final  year  students   in  securing  jobs  with  their knowledge  and  achievements,  by  organizing campus Interviews and exploring various avenues for their placement. The cell   extends   all   possible   helps   and provides   all   available  infrastructure  facilities  to  the  organizations  and  their  respective  officials  conducting campus interviews in the college campus. The cell also  prepares  placement  brochure  in  print  and  electronic format and further distribution to relevant industry and job providers.

It has been formed to achieve the main objectives as under:-

• Planning, supervising, monitoring and evaluation of on-the-job training of students in industries of repute and other user organizations
• Providing facilities and assistance to the outgoing graduates in career selection by maintaining an active liaison with the prospective employers.
• Arranging short educational tours to the industries of the region and field projects.
• Inviting experts from renowned industrial houses, both from classroom teaching as well as for short term courses and seminars to make students aware of the industrial ethos and culture.
• Arranging campus and off campus interviews for training and placements.
• A placement committee headed by the Placement Co-coordinator Mr. Harminder Singh Bindra and selected student representatives coordinate the placement activities, so that reputed companies visit the campus and recruit students for training as well as subsequent employment. The Training and Placement Cell acts as a link between the students and industrial Houses. The dedication and hard work of the team supplemented by the cooperation and indispensable guidance by the authorities bore productive results.
