Karnatak Law Society having established a number of institutions in the city of Belgaum which have identity as Quality Educational Institutions started “Vishwanathrao Deshpande Rural Institute of Technology”(VDRIT) at Haliyal in 2004-05 by the initiation and support of Shri R V Deshpande former minister government of karanataka.

Eligibility:

For B.E: The minimum qualification for seeking admission to the B.E. (8 semesters) are:

• PUC-II of Karnataka Board or any other equivalent examination recognized by the Visvesvaraya Technological University(VTU), Belgaum, Karnataka with minimum aggregate marks of 45% in Mathematics, Physics and in one of the optional subjects namely Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology. 40% marks in case of SC/ST & OBC.
• Candidates having passed the qualifying examination from other Boards / Universities are required to secure eligibility certificate from the University (VTU) before being admitted.

The minimum qualification for seeking admission to the B.E. having Diploma in any engineering discipline are:

• Candidate must have minimum aggregate marks 45% of V & VI semester (40% marks in case of SC/ST & OBC).
• The candidates having Diploma from Karnataka and coming through CET cell are eligible for admission to 3rd semester B.E in the branch of their study in Diploma.
• A candidate who is admitted to the 3rd semester will have to study bridge courses as prescribed in the syllabus supplied by VTU.

For MCA:

• The candidates who have Passed Bachelors Degree with not less than 50% (integer 50%) of marks in the aggregate of all the years of Degree Examinations.
• The candidates belonging to Schedule Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Category-I the aggregate percentage of marks of all the years of the qualifying examination shall be not less than 45%.
• The candidates should have one of the optional or electives as Mathematics or Statistics or Computer Science or Computer Programming or Computer Applications or Business Mathematics or Business Statistics in their Degree.

Facilities:

As Swami Vivekananda said the Library is temple of knowledge it is store house of information, where the user can get desired information. VDRIT Library & Information Center is located in spacious building with area of 1423sqm. At present, libr2the library has more then 3706 titles & 25300 volumes of books-reference books, reports and bound volumes. The Library subscribes 52 National and 37 International journals and periodicals. The institute has the membership of “DELNET”. The Library follows an open access system. Books are classified and catalogued according to the Dewey Decimal Classification and are arranged accordingly.

Hostel: One of the major concerns of parents about their wards is the facilities of stay and food. VDRIT promises parental care to boys and girl students residing in the hostel. The boys hostel accommodates 330 students and girls hostel accommodates 275 students. Mess ensures quality food and water purifier is installed for drinking water. Hot water through solar system is provided at every floor. Uninterrupted power supply is provided with the help of generators. Dispensary in the campus takes care of preliminary medical treatment.

Placement:

To act as a liaison between the industry and students in order to fulfill the ambition of the students in getting the right job and at the same time provide the industry the much needed fresh talents for the growth. The placement center establishes contact with various industries to find out their requirement of man power and invites them for conducting campus recruitment process. The students of final and prefinal year who satisfy the eligibility criteria attend the selection process comprising of aptitude test, Group Discussion, Technical interview and HR interview. The Center headed by senior faculty with industrial background consists of a modern office, Interviews , Group Discussions and a state –of -the-art Seminar hall for PPT ( Pre Placement Talk). The placement center also provides students with training and resources to equip them with the necessary skills to face the test and interview for their dream job.
