JnanaVikas Institute of Technology, is one among the foremost institutions in technological education. The Institute was established in 2001. It is approved by AICTE, New Delhi and affiliated to VTU, Belgaum.

Before starting JVIT in 2001 there was 25 acres of land in the name of Jnanavikas Vidya Sangha, purchased and donated by padmashree G.D Goyalji and his family members, to establish different educational institutions Mr.D.K. Shivakumar, chairman of global Academy of Technology and other reputed institutions also the present minister in Karnataka Government, was the person who really intitated to start engineering college at this place. He played an important role in getting approval from government of Karnataka and AICTE, Mr. S.M. Krishnaji was Chief Minister. As soon as AICTE gave permission to start engineering college, we started at small scale. Gradually over a period of 10 years the current infrastructures are established. The other notable persons who helped in building this institution are Mr. B.J. Honnashetty, Sri Gowrishankar Swamy, Mr.S. Ramashivanna, Mr.M. Krishnappa, Mr. Hanumanthrayappa, Mr.S.T. Somashekar.

Eligibility:

For B.E: Admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering(B.E.) shall be open to candidates who have passed Karnataka 2nd PUC / 12th standard or equivalent examination recognized by AICTE and State Government with Physics, Mathematics and Chemistry / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study. Students must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate (40% for SC/ST/OBC students of Karnataka only) in the optional subjects mentioned above.

• For Diploma Holders: Diploma Holders in engineering with a minimum of 45% marks in the final year examination, conducted by the Board of Technical Examination, Government of Karnataka or its equivalent, (40 % for SC/ST/OBC students of Karnataka only) are eligible for admission to the corresponding branches directly to Second Year B.E.
• For NRI & Foreign Students: Admission to undergraduate programmes in engineering shall be open to NRI / Foreign candidates who have passed 12th standard or equivalent examination recognized by AIU with Physics Mathematics and Chemistry / Electronics / Biology / Biotechnology / Computer Science as optional subjects and English as one of the languages of study. Students must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in aggregate in the optional subjects mentioned above.

For MBA: Admission is open to all candidate who possess a Bachelor’s Degree of minimum three years duration recognized by Government of Karnataka and AICTE as equivalent with minimum 50% of the marks in aggregate of all the years/ semesters of Degree examination (45% for SC/ST and selected OBC categories of Karnataka only)

Admission Process: Students who wish to seek admission to the various undergraduate programmes in engineering at Jnanavikas Institute of Technology (JVIT) may do so via one of the following processes:

• Common Entrance Test (CET) and Selection Process
• COMEDK and Selection Process
• Management Admission Process

 Facilities:

Library: The collection is continuously increasing to cater the needs of teachers and students and to include new and latest titles. The reading section in the library is well furnished and welllighted and ventilated, kept open for teachers and students even after normal working hours of the institution. Various technical journals in every field of engineering and architecture are subscribed for the benefit of the staff and students to enable them to keep themselves well informed of the latest know how. The Library also subscribes to more than 05 E-Journals – IEL. It's a member of DELNET.

Hostel:The institution provides both hostel for Boys and girls and lodging home accommodations to the students separately for boys and girls. A teacher-warden appointed by the Principal manages the residential hostel. Admissions are made on first come first served basis and every inmate is to conduct himself/herself as per prevailing rules and regulations. Right of admission and right of expulsion rest with the authorities. A canteen is situated in the premises of the institution and sufficient care is taken to see that healthy and wholesome food is served during working hours.

Placement:

The Placement Department at JVIT an active placement cell which caters to the placement and training of our Engineering and Management students. Many companies have visited JVIT for their requirement of fresh engineers and management students. JVIT offers excellent infrastructure for conducting on-campus and pooled campus placement activities.

• The placement department has 6 Training Rooms, 6 GD rooms, 4 interview rooms, Big seminar hall and Control room.
• A dedicated computer lab with 100 systems connected in single LAN to conduct on-line assessments and corporate related aptitude test
• The Placement Department supports training in CV Writing Mock interviews, Group Discussion , Aptitude Assessment, etc.,
• Internship opportunities in various companies will be provided for interested UG/PG students.

We provide intensive Training to our students to improve their English vocabulary . For this we are providing daily English news papers and to each student separate dictionary from library.We conduct E-CIP program (English confidence improvement program) every week which is included in the time table. Also we are providing free Deccan Herald News paper to each student to improve their English Commmunication
