The Institute of Hotel Management Shillong is located at the heart of the city’s quiet VIP area, amidst the heather covered slopes and unpolluted pine scented environs-an ideal atmosphere for the young to grow. Our aim at IHM Shillong is to prepare well-rounded graduates for employment in hospitality industry, hotel, tourism sector, management and event management position at a global level. The courses here focus on hotel operational skills, management position in the tourism and hospitality industry and the skills needed for continued learning in a changing global business environment. Well-equipped classes, hands-on learning experience, state of the art teaching facilities and skill- focused education are being imparted in the Institute.
We groom our students in terms of personality development right from the first year. We inculcate habits of courtesy, discipline, sincerity and hard work in the trainees and pride in the efficient accomplishment of task entrusted to them. We maintain a close liaison between teachers and students so that each student is given a complete chance for development and growth.
The Bachelor of Science Programmes in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is offered by the National Council for Hotel Management and the Indira Gandhi National Open University. The 3 years (Six Semester) full time regular course equips students with all the required skills, knowledge and attitude to efficiently discharge supervisory responsibilities in the Hospitality sector. The Program also involves in-depth laboratory work for students to acquire required knowledge and skills standards in the operational areas of Food Production, Food & Beverages Service, Front Office Operation and House Keeping. It also provides managerial inputs in Hotel Accountancy, Food Safety & Quality, Human Resource Management, Strategic Management, Tourism Marketing and Tourism Management, etc.

The Institute has an active placement and career counseling which provides placement and industrial training to all students.
