This prestigious institute was founded in 1963 by Dr. Vishnu Ganesh Vaishampayan.The Undergraduate MCI recognition for MBBS Courses was obtained in 1974. Initially a private medical college,it was overtaken by government in 1977.MCI recognition for post graduate courses was obtained in 1977.The progress of the college continues till today and now it’s one of the most recognized college for Undergraduate and postgraduate medical education in India. This college is attached to Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sarvopchar Rugnalaya.(Civil Hospital) with Hospital bed strength of 733.This college is affiliated to Nashik University of Health Sciences , Maharashtra and Governed by Directorate of Medical Education And Research, Government of Maharashtra,Mumbai.

This medical college in a city like Solapur which has a predominant labor population was a dream seen by Dr. Vishnu Ganesh Vaishampayan. His dream came true after 22 years of dedication and hard work when in 1963 this college was finally instituted.Initially a private institution, this college was taken over by the Government of Maharashtra in 1974. At present the college has state-of-the-art facilities for undergraduate as well as postgraduate medical education.Until recently the college was affiliated to the Shivaji University, Kolhapur for all the courses offered by it. Both undergraduate and postgraduate courses are now affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik which houses around 4000 medical graduates.

Eligibility :

MBBS : 

10+2 of Maharashtra State Board of Secondary Education with Physics Chemistry Biology and English with 50% marks.

Admission Process :

The Institutional admission procedure is as per the rules and regulations prescribed by D.T.E. (Directorate of Technical Education Maharashtra State).The applicants will have to abide by these rules and decisions taken by DTE time to time.

Selection Procedure:

Admission will be made strictly on the basis of inter se merit and as per procedures elaborated in the information Brochure MHTCET issued by Directorate of Technical Education. The applicants should refer to DTE website ("www.dte.org.in") for obtaining detailed information about these procedures rules and regulations. After all the seats are filled in and / or the admission process is over no claim for admissions shall be entertained on any grounds whatsoever. The last date of admissions declared by the Office of DTE shall be strictly observed. Application forms can be obtained at the Institute office against a payment of Rs. 750/- in cash/DD/Pay Order of any Nationalized / Scheduled Bank drawn in favour of Institute. The candidates themselves have to be present at the counseling session for allocation of seats. He / she will then have to submit all original certificates / documents along with the prescribed fees. Failure of submission of original certificates and/or payment of fees as mentioned above within the specified period shall lead to cancellation of admission. On confirmation of admission after payment of fees the candidate will be governed by the Rules and Regulations of Discipline and conduct of the Institution University of Soalpur in vogue and as prescribed by the competent authority from time to time.
