Bipradas Pal Chowdhury Institute of Technology (BPCIT), Admission 2018

 

B.P.C. Institute of Technology is the first technological institute established in Nadia district. It has established in July, 1956 on 7.70 Acre land donated by Late Bipradas Palchoudhury and his family's financial assistance. It is known as Bipradas Palchoudhury Institute of Technology, shortly "B.P.C. Institute of Technology" only in honour of Late Palchoudhury. It has established in Krihnagar, a cultural town and famous as the capital of historic king Krishnachandra, as well as clay industry. First it was known as Govt. sponsored Institute under the central of State Council for Engineering & Technical Education. Two courses were introduced L.C.E. as a three years diploma and draftsmanship as a two years certificate course from the beginning of the year. The drawing classes were started at the C.M.S. Saint Johns High School in the morning and the another classes at the Krishnagar Govt. College in the evening session from that year since the Institute had no building of its won. After completion of the store room and a workshop shade of the building the classes are started in the two parts of the workshop and the store room as a office, after puja vacation of that year. Majority portion of the building were completed in the next academic year and the Diploma courses started on civil, electrical and mechanical from that year. No. of seats were 90, 120and 30 respectively. The no. of seats were same upto 1977. The no. of seats were increased to 60 only for the electrical department from the year 1973 to 1976, by special permission. Later, the joint entrance examination system was introduced from the year 1978. The no. of seats are 60, 60 and 40 respectively from that period till now.

 

The infrastructures have been increased but the no. of courses and the no. of seats have not been increased inspite of serious efforts. The course of draftsmanship was abolished in 1965 and the post Diploma in Computer Science Course has been started in 1998 with the assistance of World Bank Project,through the condition of this course is till now sickable. No student is interested in this course since there is no level or any job opportunity. The Institute was recognized by the Government of West Bengal under the control of directorate of Technical Education and Training, W.B. in September, 1977 and is also approved by the All India Council of Technical Education since 1994 - 95.
