The Pathfinder Academy was founded in year 2003, with the vision and toil of Pranav Kumar, scholar from JNU, New Delhi and visiting faculty, Department of Biotechnology, Jamia Milia Islamia, New Delhi, to provide an invaluable opportunity for those brains who aspire for distinguished career in the field of biotechnology/life sciences. It is his vision that has made Pathfinder Academy a pioneer institute in India that imparts coaching for Biotechnology/Life Sciences entrance examinations and CSIR-JRF-NET/GATE for admissions in the leading institutes of higher learning with well-founded base as well as extended and updated information of fundamentals.

Courses:


GATE (1 year Full Time):

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), is an All-India Examination conducted by the seven Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institute of Science, Banglore, on behalf of the National Coordinating Board – GATE, Department of Education, Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India.

Objective of GATE:
 
The objective of GATE is to identify meritorious and motivated candidates for admission in Postgraduate Programs in Engineering at the national level. Some Engineering Colleges/Institutes specify GATE as a mandatory qualification for admission for Postgraduate Programs. For doing M.Tech. and Ph.D programme from IIT, IISc and other reputed institutes one should have GATE score. The GATE qualified students are given their all India Rank (also percentile). On the basis of this score students have to applied for different IITs or other insitutes.

Eligibility:

The following categories of candidates are eligible to appear in GATE:

  • Bachelor degree holders in Engineering/ Technology/ Architecture (4 years after 10+2) and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
  • Master degree holders in any branch of Science/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Computer Applications or equivalent and those who are in the final or pre-final year of such programmes.
  • Candidates in the second or higher year of the Four-year Integrated Master degree programme (Post-B.Sc.) in Engineering/ Technology or in the third or higher year of Five-year Integrated Master degree programme and Dual Degree programme in Engineering/ Technology. 
  • Candidates with qualifications obtained through examinations conducted by professional societies recognised by UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by IE(I), AMICE(I) by the Institute of Civil Engineers (India)-ICE(I)) as equivalent to B.E./B.Tech. Those who have completed section A or equivalent of such professional courses are also eligible.

CSIR NET (1 year Full Time):

This national level test is conducted twice every year by CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) in June and December. The notification of the June examination usually appears in February-March, while that of the December examination would appear in August-September.

Objective of the test:

This national level test is conducted to determine the eligibility of Indian nationals for the award of Junior Research Fellowships (JRF)-NET and eligibility for appointment of Lecturers (NET) in certain subject areas falling under the Faculty of Science. This test is conducted twice every year by CSIR (Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) in June and December. The notification of the June examination usually appears in February-March, while that of the December examination would appear in August-September.


Eligibility:

M.Sc. or equivalent degree under the subjects Chemical Sciences/Atmospheric Sciences/Life Sciences/Mathematical Sciences/Physical Sciences with minimum 55% marks for General and OBC candidates; 50% for SC/ST candidates, Physically and Visually Handicapped candidates . For JRF (NET), minimum age can be 19 years and maximum age can be 28 years Upper age limit is relatable by 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC categories, physically/ visually handicapped and female applicants. For LS (NET), there is no upper age limit, but minimum age should be 19 years as on cutoff date.
