The foundation for Government Theni Medical College was laid on 16th August 2002 by the Chief Minister Dr. J. Jayalalitha. The first hospital and college premises were inaugurated on 8th December 2004 by the Chief Minister Dr. J. Jayalalitha. Our college premises includes Faculty block, 600 bedded hospital, Casualty block, Administrative block, Examination hall, Central library, Lecture Hall (3x120, 1x150 and 1x250), Blood Bank, Mortuary, Auditorium, Nursing school, Quarters for Dean, RMO, ARMO, Professors, Asst. Professors, Residents, Nurses and staffs, Separate hostels for Boys, girls and CRRI, Gymnasium, Post office, Cafeteria, Bank and Gas plant.

Medical college was started in the year 2006 with 100 seats for MBBS approved by Medical Council of India and it continues by admitting 100 students every year. The college is affiliated to Tamilnadu Dr. MGR Medical University. DMLT, Nursing and 8 other Para Medical Courses are also being condcuted by this institution. The college faculties have published many research papers in national and international journals and organized conferences, workshops, Training programes, seminars and CMEs.

Departments of Our College: Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine and Social and Preventive Medicine

Departments of Our Medical College Hospital: Medicine, Surgery, OG, Paediatrics, Paediatric Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Orthopaedics, Dental, Psychiatry, ENT, Ophthalmology, TB centre, Skin, STD, ICTC, ART, Radiology, Casualty and Central Lab.

For MBBS:

• AIPMT 2018

For DMLT:

• Nativity The candidate should be a citizen of India.
• Age Limit For Paramedical Certificate/Diploma Courses:
• Minimum 17 years and should not have completed 30 years as  on 31st December for SC/ST candidates the upper age limit is 35 years  as on 31st December
• For Nursing Assistant Course: Minimum 17 years and should not  have  completed 32 years as on 31st December  for SC/ST  candidates the  upper age limit is 35 years as on 31st  December
• Educational Qualification: For all paramedical Courses except Nursing Assistant Course:
• Candidate who have passed Higher Secondary Certificate (Academic) Examination conducted by the Tamil Nadu Higher Secondary State    Board or equivalent Board with any subjects shall be eligible for consideration for admission.
• Nursing Assistant Course Candidates who have passed S.S.L.C. in the State of Tamil Nadu or equivalent

For Diploma in Nursing:

OC, BC, BCM and MBC Candidates- minimum education 10+2 class any group with minimum 40% of marks

1. SC/SCA/ST candidates minimum education 10+2 class any group with minimum 35% of marks
2. Candidates should have studied Tamil as the first language and English as the secondlanguage.
